Had been in the low 80's recently for highs, mid 50's at night. Cold front here now, about 30 this morning.
Thank you, my friend. The rails sure make it easier to load with the conveyor, just use a rake to spread it out a bit. Our terrain is mostly flat with some rolling hills. We added an extra benjamin for delivery.
Had a call from a repeat customer today, close to noon, needed a load of wood...as we were hauling logs and I needed to get some sleep... Luckily, somebody did some better planning and already had them 2 totes of 14" splits cut. We went ahead and delivered it, they have a child at home. Sure made for some short sleep...
Time for an update. Had a few loads find new homes, one guy got cooking wood and firepit wood. Had a couple more loads that we didn't get pictures of. Did pick up a new guy that wanted oak of BBQ. Said he had already saved our #...... So we split another tote of oak so it can start drying. Put his initials on it... Got another tote of oak back in the restaurant rotation... Delivered a cord load today... I tried to use a tote bladder as a stand alone container. Sorta worked, pretty flimsy. We put it back in a cage and fastened the top on it. Going to put kindling in this one, I think Logging crew is cutting a few miles from us. They're in some nice swamp timber now. We stopped and watched them with this big oak log...
We delivered a mixed load of oak and hickory yesterday morning... Then we CSS this load of oak and maple for a neighbor, she gets a couple loads a year from us. She has a big barn to store it in. She's a couple yrs ahead... Then Miz Carol and I sat a deer stand that evening. Saw 3, didn't harvest any.
Had a little spare time yesterday, so fixed another cage for the other bladder with holes we had left... Decided to put chunks in it... Cleaned up the splitter litter/kindling into the other tote we made...
Worked a little on the woodyard this morning after nite shift... Finished this tote, had thought it would be campfire wood, but might keep it it for us for later use. Wound up with some decent oak in it too... Then we delivered 2 loads for a neighbor... Oak load... Hickory and cherry for their big smoker... Had a EODDiver day, slept 3 hrs, back at work tonight...
While Miz Carol was busy making goodies in the house Wednesday, I worked up the last of some oak, maple and a dogwood we got a few months ago. Had a nice pile of rounds...the XS2511T &XS4910 made quick work of this Got a full 275-gallon tote done And almost half of another... Maybe we can finish it tonight
We used the sweet Echo XS2511T & XS4910 combo to put the smack down on some of the campground oak we got not long ago... Marking logs with the 2511T... XS4910 made short work of these logs Had some Blue Samson fodder left over for another tote... Another tote ready to start drying...
Had Monday off, so 1st thing, moved the full tote and the split the leftover rounds, got about 1/3 tote from that. I'll get a of that today. After running an errands, we loaded the truck for delivery... And our close friend brought his truck over for a load of oak for their fireplace We had a potential customer on FB looking for wood, another seller responded before us, posted his price... Pickup load..."cured" $150, green $120...he wanted a load of "cured" I had sent him a PM with our price and pics of sheds and loads. He said he would keep us in mind...he contacted us on Sunday afternoon, could we come by one day to see where he wanted it. Went by Monday evening, showed him the load on the truck, he paid in advance.....said other guy never showed up...... Tuesday morning, we carried him a big tote of clean oak...he was very happy... Another customer called Monday, had enough for that night left... They use a custom 14" length, we had planned for it, had a tote ready... Then we went to our close friend's house and helped him stack their load... A good couple days...
Wednesday was a good day to work on the woodyard... The tote to start on...18" splits And done... Then we cut a tall tote of 14" splits for next year... Marked the lid for them Today, delivered 2 loads to a deer camp a couple miles from home... 1st load was older oak we CS this morning 2nd load had 1 row of campfire wood, finished with premium oak from shed... We have 4 more loads to deliver this weekend, weather permitting. Also, picked up 2 more totes when I got off work...
Started using them totes... So far like them... But my baby JD can only lift like 3/8" of a loaded tote... So everything else is hand loaded... I think I like them, just need to figure out logistics and locations... So I wont have to touch them too often...
