Hunting a different stand on our place this evening. Miz Carol is ready..... Long shot side, about 280 yards to the end... Shorter side, about 100+ yards to the corner. As soon as we got in the stand and sat down, a tall 6pt, young buck came out of the weeds on the left side of the strip and went into the woods. He must have been hiding when we walked by.
The guy who built my deck owns 80 acres of hardwoods on the Mississippi River over in Grant County. He put one on the ground last week but it wasn’t the one he’s been watching on his trail cam:
My nephew regularly bow hunts my woods. He hasn’t been seeing any shooter bucks on his trail cams so he moved one of his stands to another uncle’s woods. About a mile away from me. He made a good decision. about 10 days ago chasing a doe
Our gun opener was today. I walked to my woods and sat for 4 hours. A small 7 point buck and a doe with two fawns and a zillion small furry rodents were spotted. Heading back in a bit.

Slow here today compared to most openers. The daughter passed on a spiker, she wants to outdo the fork buck she got last year.. Too darn warm.
Very warm and no snow unlike last year. Saw a couple small bucks tonight they live to breathe another day. One of ‘em looked right up at me in my 12 foot ladder stand. He best get smarter or the next guy will smoke him.
Got my mount finished. Had a junk piece of walnut in the shop and looked like it might be cool. I'll probably do another one some day.
