Did a few chores with the L5030 yesterday, moving some stuff around. Then moved one bucket of clay to a low spot in a trail. But the top of the ground was not frozen yet, so I quit instead of tearing things up. Will wait until it hardens up better. It’s a good thing the rear tires are loaded.
Took a week off work to work around the house, figuring "Hey its December, should be cold but not too snowy for my tractor to get around". First day was a major rain storm, then another day of warm weather so I was stuck inside drywalling and painting. Happily today was in the teens so the ground was mostly cooperative to pull some logs (gotta do something productive while the mud dries right? ). All in all a very productive day without a single bug or drop of sweat. I don't have a winch so I cut the logs to lengths (64" or 80" sometimes 128") and drag them to my main logging road ~50 feet away. Then later in the winter or spring I'll put the grapple on and carry the logs to my wood splitting/stacking area. This was the main area I worked in. Unfortunately the "nice" maple I dropped on the right was hollow, so I grabbed the butt log might just leave the rest for the critters. The one I'm pulling fell across the trail and in this pic I'm pulling the top half out. One of the longer 128" lengths I pulled, then cut to 64" and stacked it.
Hollow logs are awesome. I stand them up, put a vent hole in the bottom and light the inside for roaring chimney fire... a few beers helps!!!
We had another flood in VT and my neighbor saw me working in the yard yesterday. He offered me his tractor to help in the cleanup. I graciously accepted the offer and picked it up this morning. What a cool machine! I’ve operated it once before; briefly. Today was fun to learn the controls better and get some work done. Planning on getting some topsoil this spring and my neighbor said it’s available any time I need it. These are the same incredible neighbors that gave us a whole bunch of logs after their property was logged. We are very fortunate!
Hmm I looked through my Workshop Manual and I can't find this proceedure for changing the hydro filter..
