Our deer gun season started mid Oct, finally got a chance to mow some of the plots the other day. Went hunting yesterday morning for the first time. Had a busy morning... Had a hot doe show up first, she started bringing the boys around... Her and a small 7 point Later had the 7 pt, a bitty 5 pt, bitty spike and a half rack with her... Better pic of half rack. Think he would have been a nice one Another buck in a different plot Finally a nice 8 pt came out in the above plot, he was a traveling man. He got tired and took a dirt nap... After I got the buck, this doe came back out My hunny got a shot on her, found some good blood early on the trail She made it down to the creek swamp, trail dried up......we looked for a while...no doe...
I need to go hunting in TN... My cousin lives in Mt Juliet, about 30 minutes outside Nashville. Sent this picture yesterday, big boy just walking around the neighborhood This morning, these 2 were beside his driveway
Going to try a Euro mount this year. So far it seems like too much work but I've made it this far might as well finish.
Middle TN produces some absolute monsters. The previous world record was killed not fae from my juliet in gallatin. I have good friends that live in gallatin and hartsville and I'd love to get down there and hunt some public land.
Shot my best to date today on Michigan State Land about 3 o’clock on our gun opener. My family has hunted this area for 50+ years, best buck we’ve ever taken. My 73 old dad helped drag him out of the swamp about a half mile! Still making memories! ❤️
Man I should've spell checked my last post . rdust congrats! That's a great public land buck. So awesome that your dad was there to help drag it out and enjoy the experience.
Thanks! Really crazy for this area. My old man shot a 9 point in 2020 around the same area with the bow(he still hunts with a compound). Hoping I get to return the drag favor today.
Nice job and better that you could spend it with your dad. Michigan public land gets a lot of pressure, but there are some really nice bucks shot every year. I’ve gotten a few nice ones myself. Sounds like you figured that guy out! Congratulations!
This area is pressured but it’s on the edges. People don’t like to journey in. It’s too far for ladder stands and their illegal bait piles. Still a fortunate encounter that I’m grateful for, I was seeing buck sign but it was the typical smaller buck stuff. Old timers are dying off and less youths are getting involved. Makes for better bucks but seeing the traditions die is a tough one.
Cooked and cleaned the skull today. Not a fun job but I've done worse things. Still some fine tuning to do but it's close.
