Got up to 60 today. Lows to 30. House 67 Relighting on coals from a load started 24hrs ago. Ash maple pine
Just cool enough to get a fire going. 38 presently with a low of 32. Started with some buckthorn and cottonwood (no surprise there) but graduated to some punky parts of the oak I was splitting today. That is, I had a big ugly punky chunk set aside here for a couple years (found it in our woods). I kept it under shelter - thought I might try carving on it, then got tired of looking at it. Anyways, it’s dry enough to burn - unlike most of my oak. Looks like it’s almost time for a re-load. Meh - before bed.
39/64 Dropped to 23 overnight but sure did warm up since then. Windy yesterday and supposed to get windy again today.
Was a really nice day here in PA. The commute home on the motor sickle was chilly. 1/2 of it showed 41 degrees. Add 60 mph wind chill . Here at home I’m showing about 39 on the mercury and 71 on the stat. Kept the fire going by smoldering a few splits of RO throughout the day. Darkened my stove window . Back to a decent flue temp now. Guessers say a possible 68 Thurs and 66 Fri. I’m not complaining!
Just reloaded. Silver maple, ash, maybe Norway maple?, Bradford pear, pine. Gonna be only overnight burns till probably Friday. Been in low 60sduring day.
Sitting around 28. Haven't done any overnight burns yet, so in the mornings downstairs is a little chilly. Load of ash to start the day and before I head off to work. No deer stand for me this morning. .
