We lit a small fire last night too. Wasn't really needed but it was chilly and I wanted to run the stove. Was nice to run it, also brought two bins of short and uglies up into the garage.
I bit the bullet on Saturday. This is much earlier than anticipated. I also ordered new stove door glass and starting moving my firewood to under the porch. Last weekend I went swimming and boating.
Outside fire ring on the deck last night. Normally we wait until 10/15, but I have an outside wood burner, and once I start it, it says lit until spring. Holding off for now though we were in 40s last night.
Crazy thing was we had our first fire the other day (Sept. 13), I was looking through pics last night and last year's first fire was (you guessed it) Sept. 13!! And here I thought I had a new record, I didn't! 2012 we didn't start burning until almost middle of October!
I was thinking about firing up my pellet stove too last night. Got a 1/2 bag left over from last year that's just asking to be dumped in the hopper.
No poll choice available for me... Had my first back in August. Had left the house wide open, and it dipped into the 40's one night. Had one Saturday and Sunday morning this weekend as well. Just single loads of poplar each time. Got the house nice and toasty for the whole day - no reloading necessary.
I had to bust out a brand new chamois shirt this morning! Im keeping my eye to the weather reports for another warm day. I have some gas still in he boat that I need to burn up!
We had some fires in the evening mid August. Wasn't attempting to heat the house, just the room the wife was sitting in. Going to have to get serious closing the windows and lowering the storms on the windows.
All fingers are pointing to one WORSE than last year! I say bring it on.....I got two sleds coming from out near Pete, I hope to have them ready to go by Thanksgiving.
Broke down this morning. I fired up the Jotul 602b for a morning shoulder fire, the house was 62 and 44 outdoors. It wasn't the plan to burn that stove first, was hoping the WS IS would have been here for the first fire. Either way it was chilly and I'm glad I had the backup stove ready to go.
Ah I guess I better stretch out the categories in next years poll! We lit small fires sat night and two more yesterday
