Purchased a few axes from a friends garage sale last week. The Bluegrass head I am not familiar with. But feel it is probably worthwhile. The Norlund and the Plumb both have serviceable handles but need reattachment work. The hatchet is marked 1 1/2 and has an obscured mark that is beyond reading. Suspect it is a Plumb. It is well balanced and will become a daily driver. The medium head is unmarked but appears to have good metal. None of the eyes have ribs so that puts them back a bit in time. All have a small amount of peening on the butts but it is minimal and will clean up. Fairly happy with this group!
Nice axe haul. I go to a fair amount of yard sales and finding anything with a maker's Mark is getting rare around here. Those should clean up nice.
Cool finds. Seems estate /yard sales are the best place to find deals on quality vintage axe heads these days. I hung a handful of vintage ax heads 10-15 years ago. I would find really nice condition plumbs, Kelly's, true temper, Collins etc on eBay for $10-20 each, all day long. Now seems everyone has caught on and the same heads in worse shape go for near $100 or more.
