32/67 No fire. Going to be in the mid 40's today.........maybe.

 

36 this morning. Maple, Yellow Birch, Beech combo making the Wood Gun nice and warm.

 

43/66 this AM. No fire last night. Supposed to go up to mid sixties so I'm thinking I'll light a small one to take the edge off today.

 

It's 31* outside so we're taking the chill off with some little maple branches that I gathered from the lawn after last week's wind. I'm almost recovered from cataract surgery in both eyes so I can start scrounging again. I'm starting to get a little cabin feverish.

 

That's what I thought as well Dennis but can't fault someone for playing it safe.

 

53 here in north Georgia , going up to 75F today so didn't want to make a fire in the house. That didn't stop me from building a fire in the workshop. First fire of the season in the old honey bear. Burning some well seasoned cherry and oak. Was moving this freshly split oak to a new rack whilst watching the day break with the fall colors and crisp but not too cold air, really nice morning.

Let's just say that after my first year of burning, not knowing what I was doing and using wet wood the things I saw in my chimney gave me nightmares of burning down my house with the family in it.
now that I'm burning good wood and going into season 3 of only wood heat I know I don't need to clean that much. But the 5 or 10min it takes me is worth the pie r of mind

 

Today was my second day to be out of the house and doing stuff after a medical issue of my own. I can relate with the cabin fever thing! It was the big fall yard cleanup day today, plus some “changing of the seasons” stuff.

Anyways, to remain on topic - threw some cottonwood in the box early, then let the coals go out. It was warm today and it’ll be warm tonight, too - at least for November.

Might as well let the box cool completely so the installers can put on the surround this week.

 

Only going down to 44 tonight so no fire for me.

Once you catch on, wood burning isn’t that difficult. And it will save you a ton of money. I also personally get a lot of satisfaction out of providing heat for my family.

 

31/73. I lit a fire about 6p yesterday. No one home today so letting it go out. Calling for 70 tomorrow.

 

Forecast is looking very good for no fires for the week.

 

I agree 100%. Love the feeling of providing heat. Sometimes I even make money to heat with wood, my company does some mild tree removal

 

Only dropped to 44 overnight. Obviously, no fire to be had.

46/68 now.

 

70's/50's for the next few days. Boiler is back to DHW duty and one fire a day.

Little White Pine and hunk of Cherry in the chamber.

 

Its a mild 3c/37f right now with a mild week ahead so Ill do some intermittent burning but no one is at home right now so the stove is cold. The snow is all melted off the roof so maybe Ill clean the chimney this week before winter returns.
