Not hand splitting but I’ve been getting some splitting done. Got some stackin to do:hair:Have a couple hours of sawing and splitting to finish up the big stuff. Some more big maple logs I’ve been needing to take care of. It’ll be nice to have it done. I’m gonna need some Goldilocks stuff to work on next:rofl:  41E1A3FF-0F33-40E7-B2D3-2EDB45EBE1AE.jpeg CBC2221E-1A65-48A3-AD46-C004A112A9DE.jpeg

Beautiful, y’all. I finally felt well enough today to grab a hatchet and whack some splits into kindling so we could break in our new insert. Whacked a few oversized splits into better sizes too. Had a freakin ball. Sure missed it.

Rickyblazin congrats on your new splitter! Ours hasn’t been run yet (see above), but soon. Oh, yes. Soon. Just gotta get back to 100%.

I won't say I don't enjoy swinging a maul some, but I'd have wore out my shoulder sockets long ago without hydraulics. I make a lot of red oak, so hand splitting isn't super unpleasant, the splitter allows me to make the pieces the 'right' size and shape. Having fought some crotch and knotty pieces in the past with an axe or maul lets me understand why the old timers literally invented a splitting wedge that used black powder. lol When I get a crummy piece of wood, the splitter just goes brrrrrrrrr right through it.

    Congratulations on the new splitter.

Might you think about raising it a bit higher to make it even easier on the back. Constant bending is not a good thing.

    Congrats! Looks good.

And that looks like one of my favorites - Warsteiner Oktoberfest. Or is that a different variety?

Needs the table added on, though I see that a table is already being used. The holes are already in the splitter beam for one.

Not speaking about a table. I am looking at the height of the splitter and it does not look very high which means the operator will be doing a lot of bending while splitting.

Kinda know the feeling. I have a score to cut since two Sundays ago and its killing me not to go there. Weather looks good for this weekend. We've had 11 weekends in a row with rain! :hair: :picard:
