Mmm, clam chowder! Sometimes is easier to just avoid possible issues. She can have her Dutch oven. If something happens to it it ain’t my fault!

I have done a fair amount of cooking on and in my stove. Inside I have done steak, burgers, sausages, baked potatoes, bread, pizza, and hobopacks. On the stove has been anything needing a slow simmer, and is easy once assembled in the pot, like stews, chili, soup, meatballs, and pot roast. I just wish I had a woodstove in my kitchen. My stove is in my family room/den in the basement, so I or the wife don't really want to cook something that is messy down there. It is also a bit a of project to be shleping everything up and down the steps.

No pictures available, but last winter we cooked a large saucepan of dry black beans with ham on the fireplace insert. It worked a treat and we're in no danger of starvation. One of these days I'll try making breakfast on it.
