    Hello
We have a Toyota RAV4 and a Camry. Sure the windup scissor Jack works but when I tried my trusty old $40 1.5 ton floor Jack on the Camry, I could not get the front wheel off the ground!
The old cars like my old Buick GS had a nice beefy frame and was an easy lift.
Looks like many new cars have that pinch of a frame that must go into a slot. Also must watch out for all the plastic parts!
What floor Jack is recommended for the SUV? I believe I need a max height of at least 23 inches?

Looks like this HF Daytona May do the trick?

I don't know the reason you want to lift the vehicle, but I don't like having to first unload the suspension before the wheel comes off the ground.....especially on a corner by corner basis just to change wheels (which is what I do twice a year on both of our daily drivers). Hate putting that kind of stress on the body and the suspension when lifting one corner so high.

This is what I do. Barely need to lift it to get the tire off the ground.

    Thanks for the pics
You are not using the Jack points on the car frame marked with the notch just in back of the front tires and just in front of the rear tires.
Is the Jack under the wheel axial??
I had to fix a puncture from a screw.
So I had to put the spare on while I work on the tire. :)

Using the jack points requires you to unload the suspension first before the wheel comes off the ground.....hence your issue requiring a high lift jack. I have a high lift jack, but I don't use it to swap wheels.

The jack is under the rear control arms.

So what is involved in getting these unibodies onto a car lift? Do you have to have 4 of those pads?

No, there is usually a rubber pad on the flat surface the contacts the pinch weld. No need to overcomplicate things.

So I would assume one could also use these points for a floor jack and not need a special attachement?

I have always raw dogged it. Only time you run into issues is when the rockers are rotted out.

I jack under the control arms too.
The last time I jacked at the "jack point" I found out that the body was rustier than I realized...it looked fine, it was NOT!
If I can't find a point on the LCA to jack, I will at the very least jack on the frame where the control arm(s) attach...no more lifting on the body for me!

The guy who bought my Civic found that exact same thing out. It was undercoated from the factory with that rubber garbage that hardens, cracks and then becomes a moisture haven. Well, seeing I never used the factory body jack points I never knew that the body was rusted underneath there. He said the first time he jacked the car up to remove the wheel, the jack went right through the body. Oops!

Drive them on. Was doing front and rear diff service when I took this. It's a poor mans drive on lift. Works great and comes in very handy. I store one of my cars on it in winter, and seeing I have castors for it, I can then wheel it around where I want it....and then store stuff underneath it for the winter.

I have access to a couple 2 post lifts. The drive on wouldn't help me with a wheel bearing. Moot though...my vehicle has a real frame under it. Just curiosity about how the moderns are all living. lol

They just use the jacking points with four contact points with a two post lift. Use jacking pucks as the OP showed.

    Hello
At Harbor Freight tonight, I just picked up this new Badland floor Jack that is made for what we want!
This is perfect, fits my power pad, max height of 29-1/16" and only 72 lbs?? So not to heavy for an old guy!
    Also I had a 25% off coupon and saved $80 !!
    It should be easy peasy??

I stopped reading after that. One place I will not step foot in. Most of the crap in that store should be delivered by garbage truck.  Then we as a society complain about the quality of everything now-a-days and those same people shop there.

That's the only place i can find skrink tubing with "glue" in them for doing wiring repairs. They call it "marine" shrink tubing.

Most everything else is junk or one time use.

Harbor Freight has vastly increased the quality of many of the items over the past few years of what they are selling now. I am very impressed! The trailer lights wiring has gone from the very worst to the very best and the new line of Vulcan Welders is just unbeatable in price and quality! I own their OmniPro 220 multiprocessor welder and their 205 ProTig AC/DC welder so I can weld anything!!
I also really like their Pnematic air tools. The selection is excellent. They never wear out and I only had to supplement with a few more that had more functionality. Their compressors are pretty good but I went with the unbeatable world champion Quincy Compressor!

    Hello
It is not over yet! A final solution for the lower to the ground cars!!
The Jack Pad I got called the Power Pad fits well on the top of the Saddle extension if you remove the Saddle Extension pad. ( see attached pic below ) That is good for off road or cars and trucks that are high off the ground. Now for cars like the Camry it is just too high to roll under the car. Therefore I just found this really good video that shows a Jack Pad that will fit the newer standard Jack with an inside diameter of approx 4” which is the same exact size as the new Badland. :)
    See vid

Walmart has it for $7.99 !!
Universal car rubber slotted Jack Pad
I wish I saw the above video before I ordered the AR-PRO large Jack Pad but it seams like it will fit too.

In either case, the video shows you must remove the existing flat rubber Jack pad to install the new one.

Well the bad news is that AR-Pro universal fit 5.5 large Jack pad did not fit the new Badland floor Jack from harbor freight. The next to last pic shows where it will not push down in. :-(
The good news is that Amazon has a good easy to do return policy and now I have the correct size ones shown in the video in the last post on order and in the last pic below. :)
