And that's a garden tractor, not a riding mower. IF it has the 4 bolts holding the rear wheels on, that's the HD rear.....you can actually pull attachments with that. I think that has the differential lock on the trans too....very handy on hills when the tires want to spin.

Does it have the fabricated deck?

They started building that model 2019-22, so it's no more than 4 years old. That's the way I'd be going.

Indeed, Nice pot roast sounds tasty! Held off from starting last night as the temp was still above 68ºF when I went to bed. Getting a bit of solar today with blips of sunshine. So maybe hold out another day or two??

More rehab today. Insulating the front entry and getting the front door foamed in. If it wasn't so windy, I'd get my rump out and blow some leaves around!!

It does have the fabricated deck and auto locking differential but I dont think the HD upgrade hits until the TS3 series. More money there.

Pretty sure this one does not have the 4 bolt rear wheels and has the lighter duty tranny than the TS354XD

Just came in from yard work. Found that the valve cover was not leaking oil, it was some residual that burned off yesterday. Ran the mower all day without the hood to make sure I would notice any oil. Nothing. Still likely replacing the gasket as the old one was pretty wonky.

Keeping fingers crossed this fix hold up for a while.

It's been another great summer! But it's 44 out and there's a 20mph blow coming off the water.

Guess it's time to close things up for the winter.

I think they might be putting the Tuff Torq K46 in the TS242XD? I can't find the spec's but the K46's aren't all that heavy duty. Plus they aren't serviceable without mods.

I'm done with the lawn tractors. Don't stand up to the riggers like the heavier garden tractors do. IMHO something with a V twin and nothing less than a TT K66. The heavier K72 is the best bet. Or go up to a shaft drive with the K92 diff's.

I'd recommend a model or 2, but I'm partial to the Simplicity tractors. And they have now stopped selling in the USA. Only selling zero turns AFAIK now. The zero's are what most everyone wants these days. Tough to beat the Conquest or Prestige 2005 and up. Just sayin :D

You can make them serviceable. Basically add drain plugs to drain the fluid. You either need to drill the pan or purchase one that has the drain plugs install.

I get that. But since I am home 24/7, comfort is high on my list of "inclusions". Since I don't have the basement stove going yet, the floor (and about 2 feet above the floor) is a bit on the cool side and the mini split does not take care of that.

Once the P61a is going, I'll switch back over to see how it feels and how much electricity it is taking to do so. IIRC a couple of winters ago I didn't start the mini split until December (after the P61a was started up) and taht was a good combination as far as comfo9rt and electrical usage went.

Just another poor design by "Krohler"....the valve covers on those almost always start leaking after a few years. Only permanent fix I found was putting "The Right Stuff" sealant on both sides of a new cork valve cover gasket, but that makes it tough to get off.....probably a good idea to run the valve lash before doing it.

Some of them actually do have a fill plug in the top. Take the transaxle out, pop the cover & flip over to drain as much fluid as possible, then refill. Or, crack the assembly in half....then you can clean or replace the filter if it has one.....I think there's a magnet that can be cleaned too, in most of them.

Tuff Tork has a chart showing which fluid is needed....sometime you get lucky & it just takes plain motor oil.
