Drove over Champlain to visit my sister in Lake placid for the night. The original sawfish kayak under my sisters deck, I gave sawfish to my nephew
the next morning my sister and I skied to the top of a ridge behind lake placid before work. This lean-to is open for anyone to use, first come first served or shared. It was evident that people had camped in it the night or so before. On the way down she left me far behind since she does this almost every day and this was my 4th time in two years. the view of Whiteface is stunning Cascades lake and pass is always my favorite part of the drive to or from lake placid the parts showed up so I could fix the aircraft, then I had to run the engines and taxi around to test it out, my first time doing that by myself. a the silver panel on this wing oozes out an anti-icing substance, this is how you test it in the hangar removing a broken antenna from the roof of a jet. tried to go skiing one last time, ended up hiking almost half of it what the inside of an aircraft wing looks like with the fuel tank removed that last "big" storm of the winter snowed all day and left less snow at the end of the day than at the beginning, drove a few miles north and found enough snow to ski on in Plaistow. sunset over downtown, in just a few days it was warm enough to walk comfortably and catch these life flight helicopter at Barnes Airport, this is the airport you can see from the mass pike had a pastors conference in PA, right at the end of the first rail train in the US. As you can tell, it's essentially unimproved, and much of it was still frozen or deep mud. my kind of store, near the NY/PA line out west
first skate of the year on the east marsh trail. Salisbury, MA and the view of upper Newburyport Harbor took a little drive around RI after working on an aircraft at TF Green, discovered another lighthouse. Halibut point state park, Rockport, MA. My oldest daughter was home so I took the family here for the first time. There's an old query, and endless rocks and views of the ocean. This is one place you can watch a sunset over the ocean on the coast of cape Ann, on a clear day you can see into Maine a number of years ago a sink hole developed in the street and the highway department had to dig it up. We didn't know if, but they disconnected our sewer line, and plugged the end of the pipe. A Crack in the pipe allowed the water out, and the pipe acted like a septic tank. Easter weekend the plumbing finally backed up, and we had my daughter and in laws visiting. The city has still not paid the church back for the cost to fix their mistake by the highway department, a $12,000 oops. Thankfully we could all move into my mother's condo for the rest of the time until the pipe was reconnected by the sewer department. Newburyport is working on making their rail trail a loop, the sidewalk on Parker Street is almost complete back to the crosswalk by the courthouse. how I control my speed on the bridge over the Merrimack River, it wears my wrist guard down slightly, but it beats crashing I was excited to see that delta has some of their mavericks at Boston, still waiting for mine
if you've ever watched that show "battlebots" getting an idea of the scale of the robots is hard, this puts it in perspective. had some time to wait while working on a jet, caught this sunset and my truck while waiting a rare sight, a whalejet still flying. Most A380s are being scrapped now, but covid caused weird delays in new aircraft production, keeping these oddball flying longer than expected some pictures from the Westfield airshow, my wife and kids were away for the weekend, so I had a fun day at the airshow. This will be the last for the air guard to fly F-15s, next airshow they will have battle-penguins, F-35 fighters.
What’s your source for them being scrapped? Many were parked for a while. But as far as I know, most of those have returned to service. Pretty sure the biggest threat to the A380 is newer, larger, more fuel efficient engines and the airframes they fit on. Now that demand is back after the pandemic any of the companies and banks with money invested in them want ROI.
