Another storm clean up job last Monday & Tuesday... White pine, cedar, sycamore, cherry, and a little spruce.
Cleaned up the log yard of all the short cedar this last week.... Ready for delivery next week sometime...
A couple weeks ago my pine log friend gave me another load of ugly logs.... Got em all sawed up into 1x It turned out pretty well for how ugly they were.
I had a big reject cedar log that wasn't good enough for cants, so I made live edge slabs instead....
Today's sawdust production.... The first subject... A stack of 1x14's 2x14's The second biggest log on the job. Sawed it into 2x16's Was a beautiful 72° day.... pretty nice after all the hotness of this long summer.
Cut a nice elm log last week.... pretty stuff.... I almost put it in the burn pile, now I'm glad I didn't. Sawed 4 nails multiple times with a brand new blade.....
Any special treatment when you sticker the elm? Does it warp more so than other woods? $@#%$ about the nail. Go figure, whether a chain saw blade or bandsaw its gonna happen!
I dunno, I've never dried elm before.....I just stickered it like I normally do....we shall see what happens....
A nice big red oak we milled last week.... Getting a lot of blades piled up, about time for a new grinder....
