Hi, folks. I'm another newbie on this forum and figured I'd make myself known. I go by Chilidawg. Why? Because I like them. I'm not up to the standards of some of the woodpiles I've seen here yet, but working on it. We live on +/- 3 mostly wooded acres with way too much cottonwood. I learned my lesson about that stuff the hard way. I'm able to harvest dead ash and maple on occasion and some roadside scrounges because the county generally just pushes the stuff they cut to the roadside. Firewood saves us roughly 30-50% yearly on our heating bill so my activities are generally wife approved.
Ok. Welcome to the forum. It is a great place here with a lot of good firewood for heat people with a lot of knowledge. The added bonus is everyone is nice.
"The added bonus is everyone is nice" I noticed that and that's why I elected to join this site. It's also what caused me to stop posting on another site.
Welcome aboard! Great to have you here! So much knowledge and information here. And honestly, the best group of folks on the internet. Added bonus, burning firewood can make a strong case for fun toys like: a tractor, saw(s), axes, trailers….you get the idea. ; )
Welcome to the best firewood site in the world! Did the other site rhyme with hearthdotcom? Everyone here is forced to repress their feelings of anger towards others jk This is the best group of folks you will ever meet online or in person
Welcome Chilidawg . Don't knock cotton wood if you don't have far to go to get it. It makes great shoulder season wood.
No, it was Another Site. I've seen very little of that behavior here and I like it. I guess instead of reading about wood harvesting, I should go out and start arranging pallets for the next wood-gathering adventure. There's a standing dead cherry not too far from the house but I'm here alone and at my age I'm a little leery of doing something like that without having someone close by in case I screw up,
Welcome to the site Chilidawg. There are a group of helpful people here that do know their stuff. I hope you enjoy your time here.
Welcome to the forum Chilidawg. So, you must be over 40 now. Got to be more careful. I'm betting you might find someone to help out if you let us know where you live. Also we have been having a GTG (you'll hear more about these) at our place in the spring of the year and you are welcome to come and be part of a great group of guys and gals who come from many states to have some fun and a little saw time. I am located SW of Saginaw or NE of Lansing.
Welcome to the forum Chilidawg! Great bunch of folks on here with TONS of knowledge. Tell us about your setup, saws, etc...
