And so it begins. Just got in from clearing some trees and I am soaking wet from the rain. This is going to feel good.
I do love the bone soaking heat from the stove, but still not in a hurry to start it up. Maybe it's because I am playing catch up on dry wood.
Yup, me too. The furnace has kicked on a few times lately late at night. Been getting down into the low 40s outside so I made a small fire with some pine last night and pulled the trigger for the season. Earliest I’ve had in memory (I think) I get the feeling it’s going to be a cold winter this year. We are at 6800 feet so it gets colder sooner than the low-lands. It’s amazing how that radiant wood heat will permeate the whole house to remove the chill. Love it!
3 days of rain, no sun heat gain, 40ies outside at night, finally got down to 66ºF inside. Burned a little pine from the outside fire pit reserve that would fit in the stove. Doesn't take much of a fire this time of year. If it isn't very cold out I can get almost two degreeez just making some brownies or muffins. Same with supper in the oven, like chicken and potatoes, just not something I'm wont to do at 6AM.
Weather app is now calling for 36 degrees saturday and sunday nights with 15-20mph nw winds. Fire is certainly happening.
1st. Fire of the season. 62 degrees in the house today. 73 now. Polar, Ash, Sassafras and a little maple.
Got down to almost 65* in the house...the squawking was getting louder...decided I'd better drop a match on a small load of so-so silver maple and a lil ash...maybe I'll get the HX and chimney cleaned in time for the second fire...
Had a quick fire Friday evening to knock the chill off, then another early Saturday morning. Had to open the windows Saturday afternoon even though the stove was cold by then.
Cold front coming through the Midwest today. 60 this morning and it's 30 now so my first fire is doing its thing. Sent from my SM-S536DL using Tapatalk
