fun on the mill this evening

I needed some 2 x 12's 12' long for some work on the old farmhouse porch. We had some Tulip Poplar trees blow down this spring so I grabbed on of those logs and put on the mill.

I got 8 very nice pieces and a few more with bark here and there.

Since it's a hobby it never gets old... It's always fun to get out to the mill.

I'm sure if I did it as a career, it would become old hat at some point.

As far as going through it like Buttah, it's just like mah sawz... razor sharp blades and chains are where it's at... Dull azz blades make wavy cuts that waste WAY more time than changing the band to a fresh one hot off the grinder...

 

Totally agree sharp blade makes it so much nicer. I would rather just start fresh instead of messing with a used blade from the prior session.
It is a fun hobby for sure
