my largest cluster of treetops is finally looking reduced. Now that the weather has dropped to a working temperature. have been CSS pretty hard, and one of the areas that will look much improved should be turned to usable firewood. I have a few piles already split in different areas of the harvest, but I will wait for a time when the snakes are moving slow. neighbor and another friend have the virus, so no reason to be leaving the place this coming week. Plenty to get cut. * I try to pick up limbs by and end so the rounds can be cut down to none. bringing a nice log from the lower end of the tree line. Another near like it is there too.
At it again. Two trunks are now out of the mess of limbs. This one can be cut up a little more before it goes into a gully. The rounds are piling up. Several nice size branches/logs are cut up. all clear, with exception of rigging up the chipper and cleaning up the area. Only about fifty more to go. hauled some good size pieces of trees, too large to mess with, down to a sink hole. One the way back up a couple times I scooped some splits from last F , and dropped them off by the boiler. Hope to hit it again tomorrow. Now to relax and watch some football
jo191145 buZZsaw BRAD actually king, or black snakes are what I see at my place, across the road my neighbors see copperheads. I am always watchful for them, but have yet to see one. No Rattlers either. I guess the terrain isn’t to their liking. I ain’t skeered of them, just don’t want to surprise them or me so I give all of ‘em due respect.
jo191145 has found huge snake skins from a rattler at his place. They dont bother me either but just dont wanna get bit by one.
woodshed starting to look good. Starting to stack on the other side, leaving a cavity for chunks and misfits. Split all the rounds at the wood yard, then took it to the work area where roundabout are what a great day to be outside. Took a break before splitting at the work area.
Getting after it just a little this weekend. Mostly hauling big cutoffs out of the clear cut to make it look better. Hauled splits up each time I took the junk down to a sink hole. I had on my to do list , getting this big rock from beside the old county road bed, now used for timber harvest from my neighbors and my property. This was an ordeal with back at a crawl down the lane, then struggling up my pasture slopes toget it to the house. Scared me a couple times. You definitely feel every bump and dip with such unwieldy weight on the front end- which of course affected traction on the rear tires. Don’t ask why there is cardboard there- my wife gets ideas. I think a landscaper mentioned this for weed control. Supposed to do something else for prep, but after my odyssey, I told her “it’s coming down!” the bottom side of this was smooth as a table top.
