Good weekend plan Chud. I have the same one BUT I know it will be, get up early, go to work, fall asleep on the couch watching football. :(

Always amazes me how trees will grow and survive like that.

Hope you accomplish all your weekend goals there my friend

There must have been sediment over the roots that washed away. It looks like they crawled across the rocks until they found water or a place to get between and under the rocks.

I think you should lay the elm down so it can eventually make more sediment.

I'm hoping to get my basement packed then I can start moving the honey locust. Every time I make a hole in my 7' privacy fence, it needs replaced asap. Wife's leaving for 3 nights in Ithaca to visit daughter Sunday so it'll be me and Roscoe for a few. I should be able to get some stuff accomplished. :flipeggs:

Yes. Looks like it’s on the edge of a stream. Top soil got washed away.

There are trees like that where I used to live. After summer crops are done the reservoir is 10' or 20' or more lower. Roots are exposed and dry all winter but they must have dug very deep tap roots because they come back every spring whether it's a snowy or dry winter. Amazing!

It’s a high spot in the middle of a creek that has to be submerged during big rain storms. An elm seed floated down to this patch and got stuck in the mud. Now it has a few roots deep in the creek bed.

I have a few BL growing in the rocks on my upper creek bank, I can't decide if they are future BTUs or PITA.

Rare to see you only take the 261 for a cut.
