I dove in back in 2012. When e-filing came around waits were down to about 3 months. I am in possesion of several fancy government stamps. Later stuff is just PDF, but I have a few real ones.
Last couple form 4s I did were 8 months. The Silencerco Hybrid 46 I've had about 5 years. Also have had a Dead Air Mask 22 for about two or three years. Just got the Dead Air Nomad-30 and another Dead Air Mask 22. Waiting on a YHM R9 for this..
Any tricks to cleaning lead fouling from the .22 can? I have a Warlock coming as part of the Silencerco BOGO deal.
I'm interested as well. I have already done some experimenting. Thus far, I have found no 'easy' way to deal with .22lr 'slag'.
Casper , I dont know about an all aluminum silencer. The carbon and lead gets thick and is fairly hard. The Dead Air Mask has stainless steel baffles that slide out of a titanium sleeve. I have to manually scrape the deposits off with tools. There is a solution called "the dip" that is easy to make, and will make it spotless, but there are a couple caveats.. 1. It eats aluminum, so no go for you.. 2. It creates lead acetate, which is dangerous to handle, and is easily absorbed by the skin. It requires strict safety measures and should be labeled and disposed of as hazardous materials.
I need to talk to my chemist buddy. There has to be something that can eat lead (pun intended), not corrode alum, and not create an EPA superfund site. I know a lot of guys double glove when handling the residue.
Got a YHM R9 outta jail a couple weeks ago. Up to 5 now. SiCo Hybrid 46, Dead Air Nomad 30, YHM R9, and a couple of the Dead Air Mask HD.
Otter Creek Labs makes awesome silencers that test very high on suppression. They have some 5.56 silencers called "Puloniom", and the Polonium 5.56 is only about 6 inches long and seems very effective. It will probably be my next. https://ottercreeklabs.com/product/polonium/ This is the retailer I use, because my fingerprints are on file there, and I use their "one shot trust". Bitter sweet.... Now the wait for Silencerco to let my dealer know when to send it in for recall work.
I guess the FDE or other colored variations weren't affected by the recall. No word on my .22 though.
Just curious. I have both styles and don't really have a preference. It's been a good while since I looked at what is on the market.
