    This is why I like a fast 40cc saw....a bajillion cedar limbs. IMG_20230608_084029.jpg IMG_20230608_084056.jpg IMG_20230927_115529.jpg IMG_20230927_162829.jpg

50cc saws are noticeably heavier, especially after hours of this kind of work, and 35cc saws are just too slow.

Honestly, between the 241 and 261 I really don't notice the power difference in this stuff, other than one cut per tree sawing off the stump, but that's the easy / fun part.

Im back. More cutting with the 543xp. I leaned her out some and after a warm up I leaned on her hard. After another tank I had to start adding fuel back to the high. Several times as she's getting broken in and she is definitely pulling harder. There is a significant difference now. Still not up to stock 241 power levels but maybe after a full break in and muffler mod it will be close. The chattery 325 chain doesn't help. I'm getting excited about having the sasage stuffing performed come spring. I won't be running the RedMax until I feel this one has maxed out stock. One thing I enjoy about a manual carb saw is you can tell its changing, not only because the power changes, but because of the fuel needs changing and you have to make that happen. Don't gete wroy, I like the whole Mtronic / auto tune deal but I also like manual. Anyway, these maple stumps were 2.5-3' tall when I first started on them the other day. I noodled the daylights out of them today.

The Husqvarna semi chisel X cut makes noodles and chips well.

I have a ton of red cedar on my property and those pics triggered my ptsd. Beautiful trees but just plain nasty to deal with.

Got my GZ4350 and started the breakin yesterday. Liking it so far but it's still 90+ degrees here so the full breakin will have to wait a couple of weeks.

Yes, it's 90 here today as well....too hot for sawing.
I'm kinda sorta breaking mine in today and tomorrow, then hopefully Monday we'll be doing a bunch of limbing, I figure that's a good first job / break in for the little guy.

Well I was on that rcpw website again drooling over that 4350 and noticed they have the gz5000 for 400. That's the same saw as the Husqvarna 545 mark 1 and jonsered model 2152 or 2252, can't remember which, anyway that's a good deal on that saw too. I paid 400 for my 545 years ago.

Yep. I saw it too. I was tempted to order it instead of the 4350. Or along with the 4350. CAD is real!

I did good then. I don't want heavy and slow. That combination just doesn't work for me.

I think you did good. The 4350 / 543 will wake up. I like mine more every time I run it.

That echo is even slightly modded with the exhaust opened up, timing advanced and base gasket delete. That is a hard dry maple log though.

Kinda like the ms250.... heavy and slow... but at least it's reliable.

They are a ton of work for a little bit of wood.
Not a bad job in cool weather, but absolute murder in the heat.

Here's another 40cc class saw I've been testing lately.
It's the replacement for the cs400.

    41.6cc and 9.4lb dry.
Smooth spring av, momentary kill switch, plastic clamshell build.

I ran two tanks through it the other day limbing cedar, and I've used it some at the mill for the last few weeks.... it's pretty decent for what it is.

I know, it's not a "pro" saw.... but oh well.

It was a pleasure to dismantle. Easy to work on and well engineered. If my nephew decides he doesn't want to buy it like he said, I may port it just for giggles. Not to keep though. Im approaching 20 saws here again, something has to go.

Isn't there an issue with breathing in red cedar dust specifically over other trees? Its poisonous or something I read.
