In Spring, I decided the dead Ash on my property had ripened enough and it was time for them to come down and move to my piles.

Most of them are in the swamp, which isn't the most fun, but I guess I like the challenge.

Had a tough one today that got hung up in the canopy. Struggled with it for maybe a couple hours, and considered walking away. At some point, the risk isn't worth it.

But grace shined down and I noticed a dead Ash a littler deeper in the swamp, leaning close enough for what I needed.

    A two-fer!

Not a lot of moose around here, so seeing a print is pretty cool.

Excellent. Playing chess instead of checkers. As long as the moose isn’t playing. Sore losers I hear.

Getting them out is a challenge too. Usually, I buck em up and carry the rounds to the closest trail where I can get em with my tractor. If I'm lucky, I can skid them out with cable and snatch block, but usually it's too rocky for such luxury.

Nice seeing some ash again but that looks like poor working conditions. I've done some of that but usually if I get something from a swamp, I'll wait until the ground freezes.

Agreed. Mud and poison ivy. Not the best.

I scour FBM where I can get easy stuff, but sometimes it's slim picking. In the end, the piles must grow, so I do what I must. :startled:
