Crud..... just plain crud! I absolutely hate cicadas..... noisy buggers..... it's nearly enough to drive a person crazy listening to their nonstop racket for months on end..... Our cat eats em, he'll probably get extra fat next year...
Love how they say that Kansas will be affected, but then don't tell you the counties. I get it. Looking at the dot-map the affected areas should be real close to the the Missouri boarder (basically as overflow, not as verified broods), but really? Why mention Kansas at the start of the article at all?
None in CT thankfully. Being a date person i always hear my first one around the 4th of July. Actully didnt hear a lot of them this year.
It seems like they are always present in the South with some summers being worse than others. Heat, humidity and cicadas. There were less June bugs in May this year.
They just indicate summer here, some years louder than other but just another summer sound for me. I really prefer the sounds of cicada’s as opposed to the buzzing of northern hummingbirds around my head… Those are mosquitoes for the unknowing.
