So, I have cut and gathered all my wood that I will need for another winter and today I got up on the roof and cleaned out the stove pipe and put in some new firebrick replacing the broken ones. I also vacuumed out the stove getting it nice and clean.
I will do a lot of my splitting and stacking during winter time giving me exercise and something to keep me busy. I also loaded up the garage with wood so that puts me in good shape come October. That is when we usually get enough cold temps to start a fire.

I am feeling good to have that all in order.

Mag Craft you live at fairly high elevation, makes total sense to be prepared early in the fall.

I wish I was that close to ready. Got enough wood ready. But need to check the stove pipe, replace a broken soap stone and a door gasket on the stove

Good feeling to be ready. How soon will you have your first fire Roger? Lots of rounds on hand for splitting?

I have around 3 1/2 cord that I can split during winter. I am at point where I only replace what I burn each year. So right now, I need to burn some more to be able to get it all stacked.

My first fire will probably be sometime in Oct when the house inside starts to get cold enough. We will see. Cheyenne is at 6000 ft.

Ready here also. Was cutting some yesterday but that will be for years down the road.
That makes me think, what happens to your firewood when you die?

Ready to go here. The stove is good to go!

Chunks have been brought to the deck. Splits will be moved in time.

Same here, except stove isn't even installed :picard: It's okay, we'll use the pellet stove as long as we need to. It needs to be cleaned again though, I was hoping not to have to do that inside the house again but...

All we're doing, is giving the dog who will be with the Mrs more time for romance and less time for firewooding!

Maybe the three year plan isn't so great after all........

Three year plan is my rule of thumb (the good one) for dating. If still with me after three years they're a keeper!

Got the woodshed on the patio partially loaded tonight…about 1/3 of a cord of splits and a good pile of chunklies. Planning to sweep the chimney and close the pool this weekend. It’ll be here before we know it, but I’ll be ready. Really enjoying the cooler weather the last several days.

I'm partially ready and it is a great feeling. How much fits in the garage?

Ha, I made my wife give me her word either she, my son or my parents would burn every single stick on the stacks. :smoke:

Just finished up the 14th cord in the back yard... that makes it a 3.5 year plan for us. The oldest wood is oak from 2020, so I'm looking forward to consuming some of that. Got a half-cord of chunklies ready to go for the shoulder. And, 3/4 tank of oil for the oil furnace... that's pretty much a three-year plan as well... only need that when it gets cold and windy.

All I really have to do now is clean the fan motor for the stove. Takes about half-an-hour to do that, so I think we got time. Given projected temps, we won't even have to considering a first burn until mid-October.

My father in law gave me all his stash before he passed almost a year and a half ago. Told me to sell it or whatever I wanted to do with it, but insists that my mother in law was not to heat with wood in his absence. I told him I’d burn every stick of it myself. Burned last season exclusively with it and figure there’s probably 4 more years worth of burning still there! It’ll be emotional when I end up burning the last of it. Partially because it’ll be the end of the wood that he/we processed together and partially because I’ll have to start processing my own firewood again:rofl:
