Since I still have to finish working until Feb 15 before I retire, and I'm grounded for this eye surgery thing, I had to get a load in to build up the hoard. This load of Oak will end up being 2016-17 stove ammunition. Load delivered by a vintage FORD (back when Ford built real trucks)
Wow! That looks like a lot of oak.... How much do you think you have there? They sure didn't skimp on that truck load.
Saw the surgeon yesterday, need to lay low for another week or so. Can't lift anything over 20 lbs. and he wants me to be really careful about keeping any infection from developing. Says I'm 20-20 in the left now. Notice big difference between the two eyes. Other one will get done in about 6 months and then hopefully I can chuck the glasses completely.
Now that's a great looking load of oak for sure. I like bucking the logs and then splitting but not so much stacking. Fortunately, my wife helps out quite a bit and doesn't mind stacking.
I that truck didn't have a sleeper you might have gotten 8. No matter, it's a decent truckload all the same. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for that load?? I'm paying about $110/cord log length plus a fuel charge for the distance the driver goes.
I hear ya. I enjoy the whole experience and consider it my "gym membership" which ends up giving you a "warm feeling in the end". Sort of like saying "enjoy the burn"
I'd say that close to the same as here. My tree deliveries are 8 cords and he gets about $75 for fuel. Very Nice Rotti!
Mac, it is great having a wife that helps out. Mine loves to help when we are gathering. But when it comes time for splitting and stacking, I point to the house and tell her, "Stay!" Her stacking is terrible and I want her to keep all her fingers too as her coordination is not too hot. In addition, I like the splitting and stacking although sometimes the stacking goes a bit slow depending on how my back can take it any given day.
