Nice looking tomatos Jason. I have cherry tomatos coming out my ears. A bunch of beefsteak size too, with a lot still green. My son planted those small peppers, I tossed in some when I made my pickles. I think some would have a fit with my garden. I let some tall weeds grow next to my cucumber plants. Now the weeds are a trellis for the vines. Plus some had flowers, which brought in the bees. My watermelon vines look good, but the fruit suck. Only 3 small melons growing.
Finally have some tomatoes ready (besides cherry). A couple Cherokee Purples with hopefully many more soon on the way. Still waiting for Brandywine (pink) and Black Krim to ripen.
I have the first 2023 batch of tomato sauce going this morning. Heading for 50 quarts by the end of September. Some of the 2023 garlic harvest.
I've been taking tomatos to work. Eating them for snacks. Still have a pile. Though I see the end coming. Green bean plants are done. Cukes have slowed way down. Plants are dying, though I water them. Getting ready for to make my last batch of pickles. Still have tomatos though!!
Wife has been taking jars of salsa to share while at work. Probably made at least 8-10 jars so far. My garden is absolutely kicking out the veggies.
Planted a couple peach trees 2.5 years ago just to try. Last year I thinned them out and the deer cleaned the rest off. This year I didnt thin them and of course the deer didnt take any off. Some aren't the best size, but not bad. One tree is white fleshed peaches. Made jam with half the white flesh and skinned half the regular peaches for homemade ice cream. Jam didn't set the way I wanted. But its still tasty.
My tomatoes are showing no signs of slowing down. Brussels are all but done. And I have 5 watermelons almost ready to harvest.
Pulled brussel sprouts and tilled up a spot to plant some fall lettuce. Leaves go in the composter. Plans are to sow seeds tomorrow before the heat hits.
Mission accomplished. And the mornings harvest. Watermelon looking ready. Biggest bumble I’ve ever seen on the mint.
Found this little Amanita near the garden. Anyone try white zucchini? They are delicious! They get huge and keep their tenderness until bigger than these.
