Another sad day in the piney house

    Yesterday we said goodbye to our lab Millie. Her 11th birthday was monday and I just couldn't have her put down on that day. We found out she had a cancerous tumor on her spleen about 5 months ago and the prognosis wasn't good even with surgery. So we opted to give her some herbal medicine to hopefully slow any of the bleeding that tumor might have. She was doing good until a few weeks ago when she started losing her appetite. This weekend her legs started giving out so I knew it was time. She was the most loving gentle dog I think I've ever owned and she'll be missed greatly but I feel good knowing that she's no longer suffering. I know she's up there running the fields with her best buddy macy who we lost back in june. Gonna miss those two :(.

    Oh Piney so sorry for your loss. We know exactly what you are going thru and feeling, having gone thru the same ordeal last month ourselves. Just remember the good times and that you gave her your best. We were so fortunate to be able to rehome another fellow 2 days after our loss and to say he helped fill the sadness and loss is a understatement. R.I.P Millie know that you were cherished and loved.

    And thank you everyone. It's certainly been a tough summer for us but thankfully we have little miss hazel to help us fill the void that macy and millie left.

    wildwest we're all doing ok. Its almost a feeling of relief knowing that she's not feeling any pain anymore. Our daughter took it pretty hard last night but she understood how sick millie was and that it was the right time for her to go.

    Good to hear you're all doing okay. I lost two summer 2020, and also had a new pup like you. In the same order as you... This is the first time we've had one dog instead of two or more. Noticing a lot of advantages to only one. Eeks, I remember you announcing your daughters birth, time passes too fast. Hope Hazel Blesses your family like M&M did.

    Condolences on the loss of your Miss Millie. It's hard enough to lose one furry friend, much less two in a couple of months. I understand how knowing she is no longer in pain can be a relief and may even ease the pain of your loss as you know in your heart you picked the correct thing to do at the correct time.
