The sad time has come. Back to school tomorrow for an inservice day and another on Tuesday. Next Wednesday is go time in the classroom. I delivered 6 cords on Monday and will deliver another 10-12 Friday- Saturday. I like producing firewood way more than loading and delivering it.
X2 At least you dont have to stack for customers. Maybe 1/3 of mine i do. I get extra $$$ for it but still not crazy about it.
I agree, my favorite part is being out in the woods falling trees, bucking and loading it up. The drive into the mountains is great too.
I stacked a cord a few mornings ago. Backed right up to the wood shed. Took 30 minutes and I got $75. Great money but I still didn’t like it.
Joe I drove by your woodyard the other day and said to my boy "hey look how much firewood my friend has over there". He said "woahhhh dad, his piles look like mountains!"
It sounds crazy but I can make more money per hour stacking then I can making firewood. It ain’t fun though.
So I started delivering already to try and stay on top of things. Last year I had a 3 week waiting list for a while. Don’t like the pressure and ended up losing people who didn’t feel like waiting. I moved 11 cords out between yesterday and today which brought my total up to 29 so far. It’s good to see ground opening up again. Things have been getting crowded at moms. My tree guy ran 7 loads to me this morning. School starts Tuesday and the heat is coming back with a vengeance. Not sure what I will get done the next two days. Now it’s a balance of making sure I have just enough cut so they can split while I’m out on deliveries.
