Spent 4 hours at my gym yesterday cutting, splitting and hauling those sugar maple logs off the property owner's land. Those big 30" diameter ones were heavy so I chunked them into halves and quarters for easier lifting. Good workout!

Sugar maple is some HEAVY stuff. Id be doing the same. With the bark gone that will be nice and dry come 24-25 burning season. How long was is on the ground Buck?

It was all cut in June of 2022, so it's been lying on the ground since then. If I get it all split this year it will be great for 24/25 as you noted.

You are fortunate it is still in good shape I have seen maple start to deteriorate if left in the round and on ground. Any more if I don't get maple split from rounds I at least get it off the ground if possible.
