A contractor at work stopped by to see me the other day. Told me about a possible score about 15 miles from home. We went by there today, new couple had bought the house in Jan, moved from Texas a couple yrs ago. A couple months ago, a twin stem red oak split apart. It's still blocking their driveway on 1 side. This one will take some careful planning and time... Other tree hit the neighbor's fence... Pictures don't really show how big they are, but that's a decent size lawnmower by the stumps.
Whole buncha work there. Buncha wood too. Without being there, my instinct is to strap the left one and pull towards where photo was taken to possibly 'lay it down'? It may be willing to roll if that one large leader is cut off. Or wait...is the left one sitting on something made of brick?? Regardless...getting that stem a lot closer to the ground is priority 1. I'm guessing 48"+ at the butts.
If I were close, I'd be the first in line to help ya T.Jeff! That's a LOT of wood right there. My kinda score. Take lots of . Appears if you pull that one over it'll be pretty straight forward after that.
That's a lot of wood! Should be nice cutting and nice splitting. Sent from my SM-S536DL using Tapatalk
Yes sir. There is chain link fence and the brick entrance under the tree. A big excavator could roll it...lol... I don't know how solid the bases are, looks like might have a little punk. I'll use the pole saw to trim brush away so we can evaluate it better.
Can it wait until it cools down some? Be a lot of work, but a lot of splits out of that tree. Work safe Jeff.
Maybe a couple weeks. We'll have to work it in with our other schedules... Definitely have to get driveway cleared before cold weather, propane truck can't get to the house.
Probably can't wait that long, not the colder weather, but my job, making deliveries, hunting...ect...
