Found this in one of the old barns I’m tearing down . It’s almost like some sort of grinder , maybe for grain ? Idk ?
Like the ole guy I used to work with would say all the time "my forgetter just keeps on working better and better"
Looks similar to a device to card wool, flax or cotton. I'm sure it is not for those particular materials, but maybe something similar?
Suppose it could be like a chestnut husker, or garlic husker? My husbands great great grandpa had a walnut ranch, then his son did bootleg moonshine during prohibition days. Maybe husks grains for moonshine or cracks nut shells?
The nubs make me think it's for shelling or removing seeds of some crop. Kind of like a corn sheller but the teeth usually rotate and there would be a feed for the ear and cob. So not a fiber carder but maybe some way to rake seed loose from a grass, rice, hemp?
