Mostly to annoy the woman and cement the idea my mental health hasn’t improved I swung by the wood dump on our way out to dinner this evening. Even from a distance down the road peering through the trees I could tell there was some fresh cuts in the pile. Some nice good sized white and red oak logs in the pile. I fully intend to return and snag some of them beauties up.
That’s a healthy pile right there. And yep! That’s totally how people roll around CT. My wood burning neighbors will start getting wood deliveries next month to burn this season. At least the neighborhood smells like a BBQ when they get a few splits of apple or cherry in their stoves…
Oh yeah! GTG fodder! You're in the wood business now Joe, need all the wood you can get! Hoard on my friend.
I specifically asked her just for you. She says she’s been dealing with it for 13 years, she’s sorta bulletproof by now. Appreciate the question, seems I’ll have to step up my game
Yeah I will need to step up the procurement and processing it seems. Not too much tho, if it becomes a “business” and not a hobby I may lose all interest The power of mental dysfunction is not finite. May even scrounge some logs in the killingworth area tomorrow. Last minute plans for a lobster fest on the shore. Seeing as I’m driving by anyway,,,,,truck and trailer as opposed to the Civic ain’t so bad.
Paid the wood dump another visit today. This time with truck and trailer. Got three loads of the best stuff out. At least one more load of nice wood there. One more piece to match the big White Oak on the last trip. I like em big. Even took some red maple and one ash log. Brad there’s one cherry trunk down there. I’ll probably grab that too. Some rot on the butt end. Couldn’t see the other end.
Made you one happy hoarder ill bet! Some good stuff there. The license plate on the trailer is almost as bad as mine.
Went back this evening for another load. Getting to be slim pickings. Mostly wanted that last white oak log. Grabbed a shag bark even tho it has rot. The wood on the sides is still good. I’m done there for awhile.
Yeah that plate has been straightened a few times LOL. Mounted it on a rubber flap but not sure if it helps much. My tailgate still looks nice. I usually leave it at home hahahaha
That’s what I call “the foot”. Once the logs are balanced on the trailer it’s easier to disconnect the tong and overhead pulley and pull them straight on using the foot. There’s a couple 3/4” thick round spikes welded inside for grip. Works great.
