I believe that I read somewhere that mini splits in general are more efficient at AC than heat. When I ran mine for heat winter of 2021/22, it ran about neck and neck with pellets, assuming $5/bag (and my making an educated guess as to how many bags I saved). I did like the more stable heat. But at the same time, I still burned plenty of pellets during colder/windy weather.

I didnt use the mini splits for heat last year due to higher elect costs.

Another balancing act this year with oil taking the front seat, pellets being used as I can and maybe the mini splits as well.

Although pellets are moving towards the back of the list yearly now due to health issues (ever increasing workload and stress at work doesnt help this area)) and price of pellets but still dont want to leave the better heat of fire behind.

Felt bad for the kid who delivered the pellets about 30 min ago. Shows up just as a thunderstorm was hitting. Torrential rain, lightning. Kid didn't have a rain coat, threw some blanket he had in the truck over himself (forklift has no top). Guess he knows Caddyshack cause when I said the line "I don't think the heavy stuff will come down for a while yet" he laughed and gave the thumbs up.
My coat and clothes were so soaked I had to throw them in the wash cause they'd need a spin cycle to get all the water out.

I didn't run the MS last year at all for heat because of that exact same reason.

In other news, I've been dithering for months on getting a pallet jack. When I got the 6 tons from HD 2 springs ago, I didn't pay extra for pallet jack service so they could only get a couple of pallets in my garage using their fork truck (my garage door is only 6.5' tall). I had to manually move each bag of the other 4 tons. Since I didn't use much for pellets last year (as a mild year plus I already had 3 tons in the basement) I still have 3 open pallets of pellets next to the outside wall and I will be using them up first. Without a pallet jack, that means I am left with the 2 unopened pallets still sitting in the middle of the garage (which is only 13' wide anyway).

That is dammed inconvenient - and has been inconvenient for this entire time. I finally quit dithering and hit the "buy" button one day before my HD 10% coupon expired. Should be here at the end of the month.

While out and about the past couple days have seen that gas prices have gone up $.30/gal over the past 3 weeks. Most places around me (SE NH) are $3.69/gal where they were $3.39 3 weeks ago. Saw a few at $3.79 and one at $3.86. Most home heating oil prices are around $3.50-$3.60 currently.

They actually went up .25-.30 over a 5–7 day period a few weeks ago on rte 125 in the Rochester/Barrington area.

    .20 happened overnight.

That is what happened here too. It's ranging from $3.74 to $3.79 but it is bound to go even higher with school starting soon, and of course the holiday coming up.

Cheapest place for HHO is at $3.78 - cash price (that is an individual that only delivers, have no idea where he is getting it at). Propane at my provider is at $4.21, which is only 6 cents more expensive than what I paid in July (my prices are higher because I only get 100-120 gal/year)..

The last time I bought oil, while I was waiting for the mini splits to be installed, it was $5.00/gallon. I'm not going to miss that .

Brodie is so gentle with the morning wake ups. Snuggles between me and the wifey and puts his head on one of our pillows. A wet nose to the cheek to get your attention at first and then he'll put his head on your shoulder. We'll pretend to still be sleeping and he'll work up to the patented licks to the cheek/face. He's such a gentle pouch and very quite. He asks to go by putting his head in your lap. He'll also do the same asking for food, So a little tough to figure out which he wants. He rarely ever barks, Just occasionally at the squirrels, turkeys or bears will get the yips. He doesn't bark at delivery peeps either. Mail man luvs him and leaves a bone with our packages.

We found out yesterday that he has heart worms. Made us so sad, because he's such a good boy! The treatments are a bit tough on them, He should be OK. But we are so worried about our lil boy! So we are spoiling him a lil extra until he has to start treatments. Eggs, bacon and peanut butter toast for breakfast this morning. Some swimming later today and a pup cup on our way home from the lake.

They have one more test to run to see which treatments are the best coarse to follow.

    He sounds like a sweetheart!!

I'm sure mom and dad will coddle him during treatments. Hoping it all goes easily

Hopefully those were caught early enough that the treatment is fairly gentle on him. When I had dogs, they were on Ivermectin once a month to dispatch of hook worms. Hook worms stay in the soil, so they just reinfect dogs over and over. Ivermectin was much cheaper than the hookworm meds. Bonus was it took care of heartworms too.

We are waiting for the test results that see if he has baby worms or eggs in his bloodstream. That determines which plan of attack they will choose. He started the month long daily pill(I forget what its called) this morning. Looks to have upset his tummy! He didn't eat his breakfast this morning which isn't like him. He normally eats like a horse!!

This is the tough part! Just feel helpless and sad he has to go through this!! :(

All I ever used on Socks was Interceptor Plus.......it treats all 5 major types of worms, and she always got a clean bill of health from the vet.

He initially tested negative for HW when he came up from the south. We've had him on IP since we adopted him. Vet said he likely had early stages of HW the test didn't pickup. She said most of the available meds prevent really. But if the already have them they won't kill them if they are already in the system. She doubts he got them here in CT and even at the IP at a lower dose(cause he got fatter than the originally prescribed dose) he should have be fine.
