air filter

My MS 362 came with 2 air filters. I was told one of them is a pre-filter. Is it necessary to have both filters on?

 

Not sure the answer but if I recall there are two styles of air filter for the MS362. The one below which is on the earlier models.



And this version below are on the newer MS362s. Mine is a 2017 model and it has this kind of filter. You are probably have an earlier model?

 

The top picture is what I have plus it came with another filter that slipped on over it. I may try to just go with the one filter.

 

I think T.Jeff Veal has a earlier XS362 with this kind of filter.

 

Yes, ours is the top filter. It's best to run both on the saw.
I ordered an upgrade like the bottom, but it won't fit. Cost a good bit to swap it over

 

Yes this, run them both.
Now you have me wondering what my 362 has. I honestly can't remember.
That shows the last time I ran that one , I need to do something about that.

 

Prefilter is definitely a good idea to use, it's typically washable, so it prevents frequent replacement of the main filter. Just keep it clean and you will notice longer service life.

 

Are you talking about some Dawn and hot water for the wash?

 

If it’s foam.

 

I can’t remember either and the last time I was in there was May when I flipped the cold weather cover.

 

Of all the pre filters I’ve ever dealt with yes. I do admit, not familiar with this specific one.

 

The pre filter is not foam but more like the main filter.

 

IIRC, the pre-filter is fleece type. Just a light pass with compressed air or brush is fine.
