Last summer my family and I moved to a new (to me), bigger house. Between getting the previous home in tip top shape and ready to sale, then fixing up the new house, which meant painting, getting rid of previous owners hoard of junk, giving the property some TLC which it hadn't had in years, remodeling and building a hearth... I simply didn't get it all done in time to burn last winter. So, I never even looked at the price of chimney pipe... MAN WAS I SHOCKED... I think prices doubled, maybe tripled from the last time I bought my Ventis/Champion class A pipe 7 years ago! Well, after doing careful research online, I found two brands I really like. 1) Rockford Chimney Supply - Rockvent 2) DuraTech Chimney pipe on Northline express. I was really surprised to see that the DuraTech was the cheapest out of the big brands. They offer a 5' section that is approx $390. Plus all of the other prices seem to beat Rockford. Flashing is $100 cheaper, Storm Collar $55 cheaper, Ceiling Support Box $20 cheaper, and so were several other items except the Roof brackets were slightly more on Northline. In the past I was very happy with my Ventis product, but i've always heard great reviews on DuraTech and I called Rockford and was very impressed with their customer service. But bottom line money talks, and I'd like to save it where I can, if I can. I also saw Lowes offers a Class A pipe called AllFuel HST and Supervent. Never heard of AllFuels but it looks decent on the website. 304 inner SS and exterior. The DuraTech was 430 SS on both interior and exterior. I wish it had 304 SS on the interrior. Any help or info you guys have is greatly appreciated!
If you are in western PA, make a trip to OH to your closest Menards (there is one in Warren OH, and one in Triadelphia WV, also Westover WV) they have the best prices on Supervent, which I have used to build 3 chimneys over the years...one here, one at my sisters, and one for the inlaws...no issues. The one I put up for the inlaws I caught a good sale and was able to go from the stove with doublewall stovepipe, then doublewall inulated chimney pipe from the ceiling up, including extra shielding/insulation, everything, for about $650 total...this was maybe 5-6 years ago...its went up since then, but not terrible. Supervent® 6" ID x 36" Class A Double Wall Vent Pipe
You can order all required Supervent components through Menards online and have it delivered. Saves the effort of driving to the store only to find their inventory is wrong! Works well.
Are you sure? Others have tried this and everyone I know of failed unless they live close to a Menards...which I know doesn't make much sense, but that's what happened.
What!?! I haven't shopped there for years (2014) because I used to get crazy hundreds of dollars shipping quotes. I just went and looked at stove pipe and it said FREE ground shipping. Awesome, thanks for pointing that out
I cannot show the whole screen because it includes my personal info, but I can show this: I am signed in but did not go further than the payment screen if that is where the "free" falls off
Wow, that's interesting! Apparently they have changed some things...definitely no free option here...and I was not signed in
We'll see in the future, I've tried to buy many things from there in the past and shipping was outrageous, but I had to try..... I'll try to remember to check back again, the new BK will be installed soon and we need pipe & accs.
I installed Duravent. 6" double wall ss about 25' with 2 45's to clear roof overhang. Used brackets to attach to house, then at the top I repurposed an old satellite dish chimney mount which strapped around that. It's been trouble free for about 13 years or so.
Check these folks out... DuraTech 6 Inch Wood Stove Pipe Kits and Supplies We used them for the complete stove/chimney system. Great people, very knowledgeable, give them the measurements, they can tell you exactly what you need. We have had ours 10 years, excellent results
Ceramic lined cinder blocks. I only ever need connectors from stove to basement wall. Usually get whatever Tractor Walmart King has on the shelf.
prices are comparable to north line express. Same product. A friend told me last night I’m crazy to spend all that money on Rockford or Ventis or Duravent/tech. I’m leaning towards listening to him. I can go to Lowe’s buy the Supervent and get a 10% discount as well because I’m a veteran.
Yuuuuup Everytime No clue why it would not work for brenndatomu ? I have recommended this too a few others who have taken advantage of it successfully. Dunno
I was offered a nuch bigger woodstove that id like to install in my basement..chimney pipe is very expensive so i been looking on Facebook marketplace for lightly used and i think i might have found a listing worth pursuing
