So awhile back I decided to take my new to me 2013 F150 to the local Ford dealer for a trans fluid and filter change since it had no dipstick. I thought about purchasing the stuff needed to do it myself as I do most myself. I use this dealer for my work fleet vehicle so am familiar with the service dept people. Also the dealership owner and I have been friends since jr high and I used to do work for him years ago when I ran a collision shop. While it was there I decided to have them put in new plugs as well as you have to pull the intake and life was busy at the time. So now this week I decided to changed the coils so ended up pulling the intake anyway. While I am in there I thought let me pull a plug. They put the bottom of the line plugs in that I then took out and changed again for good ones. That made me question so I crawl under the truck and can tell they never had a socket on the pan bolts for trans figured out they did a flush and fluid change with a cleaner and conditioner BG6600. Called the dealer and the service advisor is busy so I told the gal I talked to that I asked for a filter and fluid change and the bill mentions that as well but the pan was never off. Waiting on a call back from the service advisor who is supposed to review with the technician.

Least they could have done was give you a kiss when you picked it up from them. A good screwin' always deserves a "thankyou" kiss.

LOL......I'm sure he is not aware as he is not in the day to day service dept. I would prefer to let them come clean and offer to redo it with a new filter before I call his cell.

The plugs don't really bother me as they were the correct plugs for the vehicle just not the ones I preferred.

The dealer business model seems to be to extract the most amount of money from the customer. Whenever “commission” is involved, everyone benefits, but the customer.

Took my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation Friday. I used to do that myself, but stopped when I got vehicles that have element style filters. While I waiting the advisor came out and told me that my battery posts had some corrosion on them, and wanted authorization to clean them. I told him thanks, and I would take care of it (I have.). Looked at the sign that was posted on the wall... $39.95 to clean battery terminals!

I had a tech arguing with the service writer when I bought my 2023. I wanted my old tires from my 2020 swapped onto the 2023. Falken Wildpeak AT3W vs some Michelin road tire.

he was all up in arms over the fact my Falken didn’t have LT on them for a pickup.

he didn’t realize I was the owner of the vehicles when I asked him what the load index ratings were on the tires of both trucks. He gave me a dumb deer in the headlights look.

I suggested if the Falken load index was greater than the Michelin, he should probably change them before the customer gets upset.

the service writer looked at him, pointed at me and nodded….

not another peep from the Richard Cranium.

So I finally talked with service advisor, after no call back I just stopped in. She went back in the shop to discuss with the tech and was gone for about 10 min. The whole time I'm thinking don't come up and dig your hole deeper. She says I talked to the tech and he said he was not sure about it, blah, blah, blah. They scheduled me back next week, then the tech pops in and says I just wanted to come in and say I remember your truck now, it is red and real clean for a 13. Yea we changed the filter I remember now. I said those bolts have never had a socket on them. He says we changed the filter, you can call me a liar. I said I'm not calling you anything but this ain't my first rodeo. I finally said I will look again when I get home last night and call back. I looked all over with a bright light and no sign of the pan being off and you can't see the gasket peeking between the pan and trans case, also there would be some signs of the pan being peened around the bolt holes. I called this morning and said I am not convinced so they will have it back and they will take pictures of the pan off.
