Yea, I couldn't decide between 20-24" but I've been playing with it with a 24". Does great. I'm looking for a top notch 50cc saw. Looking at Solo 651 or Dolmar 5105 because of this 665.

I'll be listing a Makita 520i soon. Its a real nice runner, 52cc, 3.2hp. This has the Tillotson injector carb that starts very easily & runs out nice.

That is a nice looking saw! Some day I'll own a Solo, the 665 will be a tough one to find used though.

Was looking at the 550s real hard. I have a 2 year old 372xp that I like. Have had a few 50cc 026, 260 stihls that I like. But, I Love my 665, so I want a 5105 or 650. They seem to be of real good quality, great power to weight ratio. And around $100 cheaper than both oranges. Side by side the Solo makes both orange look cheaper built. Cutting with buddies lately, we'll swap for a few cuts. So I've been running 440,461,361, 372,365,etc lately. They don't want to switch back and I can't wait. It's that nice!
Don't get me wrong, I grew up on Stihls, used them everyday at work. Really like huskys too. But taking a break from them to try something new to me. So far very impressed!
Sorry lots of coffee this morning...o_O
I keep and use my saws long enough for them to fade a bit. When the red ones turn pinkish I might changes my tune;)

If you can find one have a look at a Dolmar 5100S ('S' stands for SCREAMER).

I was looking for one of those but I read that they had some issues with cooling or something. They supposedly fixed them with the 5105. I'll look around who knows. Anyone know anything about the Solo 50cc saws? 650-652, they're rated less power and more weight than dolmar

I don't think there was a 5100 crossover to Solo.

I agree Mike. Most folks I know are after the 651, do not know why however.

I think Spike has or had a 651 and thought it was a good 50cc saw. The only Solo saws I have seen for sale was at Bailey's store in Jackson several years ago.

Get the Cat muffler off of the 5100S and make sure it's "tuned" properly (lots of people fried them because of a lean tune). And it's a screaming saw!! :dex:
