    Congratulations g60gti.

Yes, there will be plenty there to keep you busy for quite some time but it also can be very satisfying. You are in the process of really making it your place. Good luck to you.

I hope you will keep coming back to the forum and keep us informed with your progress.

You do nice work. It would be nice to have an old style pump for water like that in my yard.

Congratulations on your new homestead! You are already getting after it and looks great. Having some land though can be addictive, we started with 11 acres and were up to 100+, but now down to 80

The old style blackstone pizza oven is still going strong here at the new place, that’s going to be it for now. There will be a wood fired oven built at some point!

In our case, and possibly in yours too, the farmhouse tended to take a back seat to the rest of the property for the old farmer. We spent the first two years working on the house and around the house. I only put 50 hours on the tractor the first two years. I put away enough firewood for two years but that was about it outside. All our efforts were put into and around the house. I'm looking forward to outdoor projects!

Don’t forget to reward your hard work with some pizza now and again! And wow! A brick oven will be sweet!

It already has seemed never ending! We closed in early April and moved in early June. I spent Those two months every night after work til’ 12/1 am and most weekends at the house. Mostly by myself, family would come up on the weekends. It’s 13 miles from where we used to live. Those were some late long drives home. Tore the failing lath and plaster out of a 400 sq foot upstairs room, ran new wiring, spray foamed exterior walls and threw in new wall board. Lath and plaster removal from stairwell, lights and wiring(it was totally dark) installed 6” t&g in there because the thought of more drywall(especially all the inside/outside corners of a stairwell) almost had me in tears. Partial plaster removal and 3/8 board in some of the living room. Stripped wood floor on the front porch and refinished. Painted about 85% of the interior, wife did help there thankfully! Replaced 4 large panes of glass in the greenhouse. Replaced pressure tank for the well. There’s definitely more little things I’m sure I’m forgetting but yeah, it’s been a lot already. Main focus now is getting everything weather tight for winter. Mason is supposed to start on the chimneys mid August. I’d love to get a wood stove in before winter but I just don’t think it’s in the cards this year.

I’ll try and put up a few pictures of the actual house when I remember. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

Sounds like you got a plan! Plan the work and work the plan. Takes time but the reward is worth it and will last for many, many years.:)

From what you've shown and mentioned, your doing it absolutely first class and in reality adding/assuring another 100+ years to this home and it's history, adding your family's history to it.
Many of us have learned to live with demolition dust, sweeping dust, then sawdust and eventually sanding (drywall) dust. It is absolutely worth it in the end.

I did a remodel on a 100 year old house once.

that was enough. Glasir will get a new construction.

You’re doing awesome work though. That basement entrance is beautiful

Congrats on the property. Sounds like a piece of heaven. I love old farmhouses. Yes lots of work can come with them, but the character and charm, is hard to beat IMO.

You have done a fantastic job. Excellent investment. Looks like the windows are original. Do you know how well the place is insulated?
