Even if he mistakenly used 128 cubic foot as a tossed load he’d still end up short.
Either he’s selling face cords and you made out or he was 50% short :) A little crazy either way.

Was it advertised as a “Joe Cord” LOL

My Winter face cord price is $280 ($840 a cord) and I average about $20 in tips per delivery. Starting in late September I am on the road to Nashville with multiple deliveries just about everyday. Yes, a very different market around here. Nashville has a lot of serious burners and smokers. They love sitting outside watching football with a big fire roaring. Football and cold weather equals big $$$.

My wood yard is ready for some football! About 70 cords.

Ive seen this often around here with new customers. One guy bought three cords that stacked out at 1.5 cords and it was REALLY crappy wood that was rotten and punky. Others have commented "Thats a lot of wood! The other guy was ripping me off"

I could see if it stacked out at 1.75 cords, but somethings not right IMO. An honest seller would make it right. Id confront him about it.

    Wow that's pretty good money!
Down here I get $150 for a full cord of seasoned post oak and hickory picked up at my place.
If I hauled it to Springfield I might get $250-$300 but that's almost 4 hours round trip.
I only sell firewood because we generate lots of it from reject swalogs at the mill.....and because making firewood is addictive...lol

Thats an amazing price you're getting EODDiver. Good for you. What's in the water in Nashville?
Around here $250-300 is the highest I've seen.

Like many have said, a cord short is a little too much to let slide.

Also nothing wrong with buying wood.

Tonight is a good example of why I dont jump the gun, point fingers, make assumptions... Guy messaged me and told me he had another load for me, I said hey buddy... you were pretty light on the last one. He apologized, said he would make it up to me. Came over with two legit cords. I asked what the damage was and he told me 100 bucks. I gave him an extra 25 for gas, and I will probably buy a couple cords for the inlaws for early xmas. Had a good gut feeling with the guy, and wasnt wrong (I have been wrong before).

Absolutely nothing wrong with buying wood. Your time tools space and abilities come into play.

kids are sometimes too small to help. When daughter was young bought logging truck load. about $80 a cord log length. Got me ahead
If somebody offered me wood at 100 a cord cut and split and delivered! I would buy a bunch!

Prices EODDiver getting I would burn oil or propane it’s cheaper

My 9-5 is sales related. Its crossed my mind to buy 20 cords from this guy and resell in the winter, but I feel weird about doing that, and wont be going that route.

I could literally sell it for twice that, add my fuel costs and still be cheap. Buy 20 and keep 10 for free lol. It's good looking stuff too, the stuff tonight was primo.

Realize who he markets to and good for him! I wouldn’t buy it; probably why there are supply demand curves to set prices. I would guess 30% of price he receives is due to the service. Wheel barrel and stacking.

All my splits are 16" and I probably split smaller than most sellers. The vast majority of my customers burn for pleasure and not as a heat source. Smaller splits provide bigger flames and it also allows the wood to dry faster. A win win. And yes, a large portion of what I charge is for delivery, wheelbarrowing and stacking. Typically takes me 4 hours to load, deliver and return home. The big bucks come into play when I have 3 to 4 deliveries on one trip. That greatly reduces the fuel and driving time per face cord. This is what I go by when loading my truck:
    15”=1.25X5.42(65”)X6.33(76”)=43 cuft
    20”=1.67X5.42X6.33=57 cuft 1 & 1/4
    23”=1.92X5.42X6.33=66 cuft 1 & 1/2
And I always add another 4-5 cuft for good measure. Customers know they are getting a generous amount when I over flow their racks.

I will not knock him for that one bit either.

but I will also recognize he’s also at the extreme high end of the bell curve for prices too.
