I remember that day like it was yesterday. The thing that sticks with me is the contrast of what a beautiful day it was and the horror that took place.

ISIL has put an exclamation point on the importance of remembering... that's for sure. Thanks Scotty.

I had just gotten out of the shower and laid down to go to sleep (was working third trick at the time) when my wife came bursting into the bedroom and said a small plane had just hit the WTC. I went out and was watching the live newscast and I said there is NO WAY that was a small plane, I said to her it had to be a terrorist attack......As we sat there we watched the second jet hit the other tower.......A surreal moment in my life that I cannot erase from my head. We sat on the couch and cried totogether.

We all cried Scotty. I remember thinking my kids would never get to live in an innocent world again.

My wife and I were living in SW CT at that time. She taught 8th grade. A lot of the kids' parents commuted to NY. One father who worked in the Trade Center made it because even though he was running late, he took an extra five minutes to get a cup of coffee in a place at street level. Other parents of those kids weren't so lucky.

My kids are getting to an age when they need to learn about what happened, but it's going to be a really difficult conversation to have. Watching footage of those planes is so sickening for adults, it has to be harder for kids. But even if it weren't still so much a part of our lives now, with ISIS and others who still would celebrate another attack on our country, they would need to learn and remember.

I was taking care of patients at a nursing home in Windber PA and a friend called and asked if we had seen the news. A plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. I immediately said it had to be terrorism. You don't just run into a NY city skyscraper accidentally. She called back a while later with the news that the second tower was hit.

Then not long after we got news that a third plane went down in a field about 15 miles south of where I was working that morning, near Stoystown. I cancelled the rest of the day as they had closed all the roads around the Johnstown airport and many surrounding businesses. My office was just outside the area they closed down. Regardless I told my wife that we didn't know whether they had smuggled biological or other weapons on board and I just felt more comfortable taking the kids to my parents over in Blair County.

Patients of mine had debris from the wreckage in their yards at Indian Lake, 4 miles from the crash site. The church cemetary in New Baltimore had debris in the trees, 6 miles away. A good friend was a local cop at Indian Lake and was assigned to guard the crash site that morning. There are a lot of strange things about that plane crash here in PA.

I was standing on the steps of Dismukes Hall -Maine Maritime Academy, drinking a coffee, my buddy walked up and told me a plane had hit the WTC.
By the time I got out of that class and back to my dorm the second plane had hit

I've always assumed that plane had been the first airliner in history to be shot down by US jets, as they knew that plane was headed for DC. It'll probably never be made public officially... nor, does it have to be. Your info about a debris field 6 miles, at least, would certainly seem to go against the official record.

I vividly remember what a nice and sunny but crisp cool early fall morning it was.

My first inclination on the small plane report was that some idiot was trying some kind of stunt and how could someone be that stupid. I then called a friend who wasn't at work yet to see if he could see it and his reply was 'that isn't any private plane'.

Most of the locals near the crash site believe it was shot down. My friend who was a local cop guarding the crash site believes so but he's not allowed to say why. A coal miner working a drag bucket on a strip mine near the crash site says he saw the airliner being trailed by a military plane and another witness, a woman, described a plane following it that sounded like a description of an A-10 Warthog.

Rumsfeld made an odd slip of the tongue when we was visiting troops in Iraq later that year. He said, "... shot down that plane over a field in Pennsylvania ..."

I'm not a "Truther." None of this is absolute proof and I'm not saying I believe it was shot down. There's just a lot there that makes you go, "Hmmmm...." Frankly I'd feel better knowing they were able to stop that plane than believing we were completely caught undefended and unprotected.

I remember that day like it was yesterday too. I was on cape cod delivering a camping trailer and drove by Otis and the marines were scrambling to put some jersey barriers at the front gate. I put on am radio and heard the news. Just after that you could hear all kinds of military aircraft flying. As I was dropping off the trailer I was able to see some of the news on tv., amazing....

It almost hit home in our house as my brother in law was on his way to an meeting in the bldg. next door and was diverted into his N.J. office first to pu some materials for the meeting. Had he gone straight in he would have been in that bldg. which was destroyed. Lets all remember those who were lost.

I'd surely believe folks living/working right where it happened. Getting the truth these days, thru the filter of mainstream news and the guv... sure is a crapshoot.

Agree, Never forget. Freedom isn't free. There was a human price to get freedom and a human price to keep freedom.
