Just spent a pleasant 5 days at our up nort cabin. Been watching these two dead oak across the road. Asked the neighbor if they were his and he said “no they are in the township right of way”. So I found the town board chairman in his favorite tavern and showed him the pic. He said knock ‘em down pal so we don’t have to.
I will attack these in October if not sooner.

Looks like some good stuff. Nice flat area to work too. Will it involve your tossing brush into the woods?

The best parts of this wood hoarding operation?

    1. The black top driveway you see leads 50 feet to our cabin woodshed.
    2. Power lines are underground so there is nothing aerial in the way.
    3. Good old boy Nick has a neighbor (who I haven’t met yet) with a hydro splitter I can use.
    4. The street dead ends just to the right so no traffic will have to be stopped.
    5. Dead Oak! nuff said!

He is the nicest guy one can ever meet. He designed hearing aids, an audio engineer by trade before retirement.

So my ATV is a workhorse for sure. It is a very valuable tool when I procure firewood in my woods.
    However.
I do get to play on it once in awhile. Every fall I go to a buddy’s cabin way up nort in Douglas County for a week of pounding the ATV trails. I leave tomorrow for 6 days. I am packed and locked and loaded.

It takes a couple days for my liver to recover after this week. Why does the beer and Crown Royal taste so much better in the great north woods?

Had a Rancher for years with zero problems. I have since upgraded (slightly) to a 2019 Rubicon Foreman 500. Wanted the electric assist steering, IRS, and a truly locking front dif. Those three things are critical for pulling heavy loads out of my woods. The Rancher was basically a three wheel drive.

Mines the solid rear axle, (which is fine for me) electric chit/auto with the select 2 or 4wd. It has served me well, I only have 344 miles on mine. I've killed 2 batteries for them just sitting... :headbang::picard: That Rubicon is a sweet machine!!!

I bought a solar battery maintainer from Amazon that’s worked really well for keeping the battery topped off. I have one for the tractor mower as well. It kept the battery topped up all winter.
