My best friend crossed over the RAINBOW BRIDGE very unexpectedly this morning, and boy oh boy does it hurt. She came to us at age 4 and would have turned 11 this coming January. She was a extremely intelligent dog who earned a number of performance titles during her time with us. R.I.P Miss Dixie, you will never be forgotten

Thankyou. We have been married for 50 years come this March. This was the tenth time we have gone down this road. They were all very special pups in their own individual ways. Love em' while you have them.

    Sorry for your loss :(
I can't seem to bring myself to get another dog for this very reason, I was a wreck after the passing the last 2.

Never easy to lose a dog, especially when you put the time and effort into the training as you obviously have. They are more than a best friend they are literally an extension of you. I have had many myself, mostly labs but a couple swamp collies too, we always had lots of fun and learned each others every move. After 3 years we are actually talking of finding the right puppy again and starting the journey again. But it almost hurts doing so. Cherish the memory of Dixie and continue to speak highly of her for many years to come. It never fully heals just gets easier and more enjoyable to talk about her as time goes by. This guy is still one of my favorite and undoubtedly the smartest and tested every nerve I ever had and I miss him to no end 8 years later. F8CA01D5-F1E2-4AAA-A703-BE916F3994EB.jpeg

I like pretending I'm a tough guy and then I see something like this, immediately empathize and need a moment because I'm not so tough. Sincerely sorry for your loss.

    Can totally relate to this.

After our last pup had to leave in 2011, a year encompassing the death of my parents also. I couldn't bring myself to it for 2 years.

Then Jill broached the subject, and it did seem time to begin anew.

Holly came to us at that point, as I knew the right pup would, when the time was right.

I'm a firm believer that the right pup.. or other furry friend.. comes into our lives when the timing is right.

    We couldn't be happier.
    :)

Condolences on the loss of Miss Dixie. It looks like she lived a very fun and fulfilling life. Very tough to absorb when it is unexpected and you haven't had a chance to try to prepare - not that anyone is ever truly prepared. I hope your great memories bring you comfort.

Thanks to all you fine folks for the kind words. This morning is tough as we used to have a morning ritual EVERYDAY and now there is nothing. We have already began the search for our next fur baby thru adaption. There are so many pups out there who need a new beginning. Fortunately we have the means and desire to make that happen. The search begins.......
