Sounds live you've done a whole lot of work to mitigate the water!

I get groundwater up thru the floor in the basement too. Fortunately not enough to puddle (since I fixed the issue of water coming in from the garage), the grade is fine, and there is plenty of sand around the foundation, so a raised floor was all I needed to do. Some might argue I should have done more, but it has worked well for 5 years. Sure, the basement it humid, but so is my main floor - and neither are as humid as the garage (where the sump is).

    X2 Hope you have a happy! :)

Wish I had the head room, I'd do the same. Dropping the humidity sure has made it feel better in here! 55 this am when I got up. Surprised as we got a good boomer and a mess of rain. Outside humidity went nuts. But both the basement and main floor keep dropping! :)

bogieb are you in the flood warning areas? Hopefully all ok for you. May be mistaken but I think your in an elevated area but western NH has been getting a lot of rain lately.

My area has had plenty of rain this summer but luckily not the flooding amounts that western Nh has had.

Seven (lord help me) ton New England stacking as high as I can reach without undoing the surgery to my foot. Price is going up $50(ish) in a couple weeks to almost $400. YIKES!

One odd duck ton is labeled Premium "Plus", oh really? Plus what exactly? I got a whole bunch of email words back from Lignetics, and as I suspected only the bag has changed.

We got swamped Sunday night into Monday! But faired OK. I see other spots west and north of us got gushed on too.

Basement stayed dry and humidity is dropping even with all the rain!

I'm fine, thank you for asking. Lots of washouts in and around the area. But, we didn't get the 4-8" of rain in 24 hours that other places got. Some of the storms just split right around my area (right between Monadnock region and Sunapee region). An abutting town was telling residents near the North Fork river to get out while they can as they expect even worse flooding as they were going to have to release from the upriver damm, and it was in danger of being overtopped anyway. Many damms in the area are full open as everything is so saturated the ground just can't hold anymore. The Contoocook River is surging - that is 4 blocks away from my house (I am in no way in danger of flooding). But, my area is in no way as bad as western NH - and VT got Hammered. They are comparing it to the devastation caused by Irene several years ago.

Good to hear for both of you!

Ground is definitely saturated here as well with all the rain and lake/river is very high but no real issues. Hopefully it stays this way.

Thanks gbreda We be all good, Luckily we up on a good sized hill. But the low area just down the hill from us had water over the road. Luckily no major damage. Just a bunch of debris, but no wash outs. We were nervous But the upgrades we have made helped and the sump pump wasn't overloaded. It was a good test for sure. Plus I was able to see where we had puddles(low spots) for future grading and a down spot that needs to be longer.

bogieb Good to hear you faired well and weren't in any flood danger! Pretty rough in spots from what I see on FB postings.

ACOE Elm Brook Dam in west Hopkinton takes care of the Contoocook river flood control, depending on what's happening to the Merrimack river, there can be as much water being released down the Contoocook River as normally flows in the Merrimack river.

Only rub now is the hundreds and hundreds of acres of land behind it used to store the water that local farms use for corn/silage/hay crops to keep the cows/livestock fed during the winter. Those are all underwater during the spring and all but guarantee are again by now.

Then people will whine about not being able to go swimming because the park is underwater, oblivious to all the other consequences out of season flooding has. Both of those dams have provisions for hydro power but have never been utilized to my knowledge.

ACOE Blackwater Dam takes care of the Blackwater River here in Webster and controls that flow into the Contoocook River.
