Well, I had already chopped up a couple of the biggest pieces, but here is one that I hadn't finished. Any other ones that might be larger are still covered by the smaller limb wood (and it's raining) so I don't have pics of them. You can see this one has some rot, and there were some termites crawling out of it when I was whacking it. If I get a chance I'll run by the place where I got the stuff and see if I can get a good pic of the trees. I really only glanced at them and they didn't stick out to me as extremely large, but we have a lot of large trees in Alabamy. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of the car hoarding as I was rushing to get them out of there because of the rain and my overloading of the car ... Here are the remains of the pile after I took out a couple of cart loads of chopped uglies. I'll get a pic of the larger pieces
Sweet haul. I wouldve stuffed that into our Nissan Murano...of course without her knowledge. She would me if i did that, but for black locust it would be worth it!
Heh, the car I loaded it has white cloth seats! Of course I had a moving blanket on back seat, then a couple of large cardboard boxes on that, and a large sheet of plastic over that... The little lady would have been rather unhappy to have me throw fresh wood covered with moist lichens across that seat. Just can't get the time to split it though, as soon as I start whacking away, here comes the rain again...
This lot made me think of this thread. Wooded lot that was cleared to the dirt back in the early Spring. Mostly BL growing there. One sapling is nearly 6' tall in first pic showing how fast it grows.
