The one I had that I modded might as well have had no air filter. It sucked in fines like no other. I fixed it though.....
Update- Happy to say that Stihl replaced the saw with a brand new one, actually gave me a 171 in place of the 170. Not super impressed with my dealer through all this and wish they were not so convenient, probably will shop around the big city for a new one. Felt like I had to do all the leg work to get anything done. I will give them some slack , I know they were slammed because of the storm but doesn’t make my issue any less important to me.
