What if you just made firewood for an extra hour every day? :tree: :saw: :axe: :stacker:

I've been doing some smaller jobs around the house or have been running around on the roads. The firewood work will start when the dang friggin rain, thunder and lightning stop.

What I started on was c/s/s of pine on the house lot, I promised the wife certain piles would be gone before winter, I was ahead of schedule until all the rains hit. I did put up 15 face cord of softwood, three face are in an area we usually keep hardwood so whatever pine I c/s will get tossed in a pile and then covered before winter.

I might have room for six face of hardwood and then the stacking areas will be full, I'll check that number this week.

Another thing yooperdave reminded me of after I told him we felled that unlucky number of pines starting in March was that I needed another just too get off that unlucky number so before the end of July, number 14 will come down.

The monthly electric bill gives us little understanding of how much (or little) you are using becuase rates vary hugely between states. I'm pretty sure that Backwoods Savage uses very little kwh in comparison to a 4-member family.

For example, I could say that my electric bill was zero, but that doesn't mean anything. I took 89 kwh from the grid, and used a total of 222 kwh (both grid and solar). June was a very overcast/rainy month so the house didn't get much solar gain. Only used the mini split a couple of times (during solar production hours). I did use the mini split yesterday afternoon as the humidity inside was 69-73% depending on the room. Turned the system off once it got everything below 60%.

The bill I just paid was for 540 kwh

I helped the wife do some grocery shopping but before that the scales said 200.2. We did get some chicken breast for the grill on July 4 along with tomatoes for the vaunted hot salad.

I guess Dean Martin will be replaced with some ZZ Top for the rest of my treadmill sessions, hopefully ole ZZ is good for two or three pound loss. Heading down for the first session with ZZ Top playing with my planned supper being a few bowls of Cheerios.

If ZZ Top doesn't move the scales then the old push mower will have my azz pushing it if it doesn't rain out, when I weighed more that was good for a one pound loss.

I did sixteen minutes on the treadmill, incline started out at 2.5 and then ended on 3.5, the treadmill speed started at 2.5 but quickly had that at 2.9 and then 3.0 but finished at 3.2 for 101 calories burned for that session.

The ZZ Top CD definitely will get you moving compared with ole Deano, hopefully around 4 the second session starts.

Working on a rental house today. My brother drove in Friday evening to visit and stayed at my parents until early this morning to head home. Got an early start today thanks to my brother giving me the old "shave and a haircut" with his horn at 5am.

I got a little start on the work getting the clear cut done for my new septic system. Most of the wood is being cut into 80inch lengths. The larger pieces are being dragged out using my garden tractor and chokers or a bull rope. I had some help from a friend getting a start on the clearing. I have another friend lined up to continue the work.
DSC04406.JPG DSC04407.JPG DSC04408.JPG DSC04409.JPG I am using old fence posts for stringers. I may have 10 or more trees to take down. At least I have a month to finish the job.

The is a bunch of dead elm, SBH and paper birch so far. Popple and Oak are still standing yet. A tractor with a grapple would be nice but the better half told me I won't live long enough to get some good work done. I turn 76 in a couple months:BrianK::BrianK:

The afternoon treadmill session didn't happen but I just did 20 minutes at various speeds and different inclines (finished at 3.5) for a total of 126 calories. Dean Martin was the choice for music, The Capitol Years.

Supper stayed the same, two bowls of Cheerios but me skipping ice cream didn't happen, it was a smaller bowl, that will be my last until July 16th.

July 4th we'll be having chicken from the grill and then pretty much after that my crazy diet will really kick in, hopefully the wall (199) can be broken through.
