The trees in my orchard are still young but they're finally bearing fruit. Certainly don't have enough to make cider this fall but plenty for the kids to pick. That's all I really hoped for this season.

Here's some from a couple trees:

    Thanks

The one we had in late April/early May zapped some of them. They technically still "grew" a little but we're deformed and soft. I plucked them off. Seems like also certain varieties were affected by that freeze more than others. Liberty, Suncrisp, Goldrush, Crimsoncrisp, Enterprise, Arkansas Black and Winter Banana were affected. The ones that pulled through were Scarlett Crush, Pixie Crunch (my absolute favorite), Franklin Cider and Orleans Antique. Hoping as they get bigger they'll produce more but there's around 6-12 on each tree that produced.

I have several other oddball varieties that aren't producing yet and I'm guessing it's my pruning. I had a habit, while they're young, of pruning back slender, spindly branches that I wanted to keep and I'm thinking those that haven't flowered yet are tip bearing...the ones producing are all on spurs for the most part.

Not my picture but my picture driving. No surf and no wind launching Saturday morning. Shallow slope this year and a sticky boat, had go in a ways, couple inches above the hubs.

spotted owl you guys don’t have boat ramps? Seems like a dumb question…

buddy did a halibut charter in AK said they launched the boat with a skidder, must be normal out there. I’d hate to put my truck that far in the ocean. That salt water will destroy anything. Unfortunately the stuff they put on the roads around here seems to be even more destructive.

That salt water should do wonders for that Suburban.

The trucks are usually purpose specific, soon to be low budget and pretty much disposable. This is by far the nicest truck I’ve had for this purpose, hopefully it will last a while. Couple times a year I’ll mix half partial jugs of oil, atf, power steering or whatever I can find and then cut it with kerosene. Into a garden sprayer and hose down the underside. The last suburban the seat sunk on the way home and then I could see the asphalt going by under the truck, I didn’t like that.

Boat ramps are crowded and full of tense people. This is way more fun and a much more laid back way to get out. Fishing is closer too, usually less than a mile. The nearest ramp is 17 miles North or South.

These "Jack be little" pumpkins look like they're almost ready. Too soon for fall.

This looks like solid entrepreneurship- mow the yard and then offer bundled wood for the fire pit…

Not a great pic but you can sorta make out the orange mesh bundles under the tarp.

Whatever a sand pear is, there will be plenty.

Regular pears, also plenty for second year trees.
