I’m sure I’m not the only one cruising Marketplace and Craigslist for firewood related scores. Given my location in CT, there’s sometimes some items that pop up on Long Island. As the crow flies, technically not that far, but to get to….you either take a ferry or drive through NYC. So not that practical. Now, I don’t know if there are many wood burners on Long Island, but there seems to be a decent amount of wood up for grabs in that area. I’ve seen some good free stuff from homeowners pop up in my feed. This one takes the cake though. “Must take whole truck”. What a problem to have! I’m sure many of us would love to have a score like this one.
I could use a log truck. I’d drive that through NY,,,,,,,once. Where’s the FHC puddle jumper when ya need it?
In my small town a 00’ Volvo 252,000 with 2 Axel and a drop Axel with log loader showed up for sale. $35,000. Makes one want a class B and air brake endorsement.
The guy that I occasionally get log loads from has asked me how much of a load I wan. I used to say full till one time he dropped a short load and I realized that 3/4 was easier to deal with on my lot. His only stipulation has been the unloading zone had to be clear with no cars in the way when he showed up.
I found another Long Island deal this morning, but didn’t do a screen grab. I’d say a good cord and a half of wood that’s been split and seasoned for at least 3 years. Another “Must take it all!”
Now that could be fun! Wonder if we could get a U-Haul on the Port Jeff Ferry….. I actually saw a flatbed tow truck with an old pickup the last time we took it back to CT. Hmmmm.
"It's free but I get 25% of everything you cut." Sooooo it's not free? haha. Who has done this or had this offer?
