Free to me! This will be a regular visit for me, the property owner drops dead trees from his lot and puts them here for me to cut and haul away.

    Hey that's nice!!
Any idea how many trees he has for you?
Think you'll be able to keep up with his cutting activities?

It is about a 20 minute drive, but only 5 minutes from my work so I can go after shift and cut until the chains are dull. Very lucky to have the arrangement, he has hundreds of dead standing that need to come down over the next couple years.

I'm grateful to have almost 600 acres right next door to get wood from (but with doing tree removals its not even necessary anymore). I do get wood from the farm, occasionally when someone needs campfire or cooking wood. Tons of standing dead over there. That farm got me through several years when I started out burning (the standing dead white oak from gypsy moth damage over 30 years ago). I'm thankful to have amazing neighbors that own that farm, they treat us like family.

I cut up a huge white oak the other day that uprooted into one of the hay fields over winter, I'm hoping that log can be turned into lumber instead of firewood......
