Free eucalyptus just popped up a few miles from me. Not too much—approx. 30 rounds—and some of it looks like it’s bucked too short. I also have so little room right now.

The guy says it’s “aged”. I asked him to be more specific. I need to go get this, right? Maybe I can cherry-pick the good rounds.

Update: the tree was taken down a year ago, so it’s at least a couple more years until it’s ready. If anything I need to add to the front of my supply, not the back. I’m going to pass.

and the name of this forum is?

All kidding aside, now that you are on the three year plan, you can pick and choose what you take. Free wood is always great, but why take the "junk" too.

Ask him, worst he can say is no. Ive had score where ive cherry picked and had one it was all or nothing. I took it all as there was black locust involved! :loco:

Disregard my prior post, but still good advice.

Smart move saying no. Idve passed too as its too old. I prefer fresher cut (less than six months) wood.
Green and clean is what i prefer.

If you use kindling that is the stuff to get. If it’s the same type eucalyptus I’ve been able to scavenge that stuff is like lighting gas. The resins in that stuff make fat lighter or old cedar fence and siding boards look like wet rotten alder. Watch out for pitch pockets.

I’m a hoarder so I would take it all. But that’s just me.
